The Red Dragon King

Episode 1

                  The cold breeze brushes against my cheeks as I walk to the entrance of the hospital, heaving out a big sigh, just another day as a 3rd year medical student, where stress is taking a toll on my body. 

  "Hey Ha-eun, Good afternoon! Ready for the night?" Rose my colleague screamed out with excitement in the air. I am currently working in California, the big LA. Don't get me wrong it is nice at the states, but sometime I would like to go home and see my culture and tradition everywhere. Ah, nothing really beat home. 

" Yeah, I guess." Monotonously answered her. 

                 I have been studying in the states for about 7 years already, my English is fluent versus when I just arrived from South Korea. I haven't seen my parents physically since, hopefully when I finish my 4th year, I would go back home. 

" Ha-eun! Yesterday was your day off, what did you do? Did you take a good rest?" Rose rambles. 

" Yeah I did, I had Skype my parents, read a book, cook and than I slept the whole day." I answer her as we walk down the hospital halls going to our locker room to put in our stuff inside. 

"Oh gosh, you are no fun! That was all you did?!" Rose frown upon my activities on my day off. I rolled my eyes and shrug my shoulders, as I take off my jacket revealing my royal blue scrubs. digging in my backpack I look for my name tag, I'm always the disorganized type of person, but I do still get everything done. 

" I mean yeah, what else you think I be doing? Going to the club like you and be tired the next day won't be able to work ? I'll pass boo." My reason made her frown.

" But....you need to live sometime! like have fun! Go to hookups, or to the bar or something, you are not getting younger Ha-eun!" I look at her like is she really kidding me right now.

"Rose, we are not about to argue back and forth. We need to clock in before Dr. Lee phone us asking where we at." Rose rolls her eyes and gave out a puff, she walks out to the hallway waiting for me to finish up. We went to the lounge where the clock-in computer was at, and signed in. On key Dr. Lee came in along side with Brandon Song and Andrew Brooks our colleagues and team.

 " Hello Ladies, good afternoon." We greeted Dr. Lee and began to sit at the round table. Brandon and Andrew came and sit down beside us. 

"Alright so today is Friday, and it will be busy as always. We might have a code black in the ER are we clear about that? Also even though the upper folks tell us to complete the paper work before working on a patient, I would have to disagree, because you all are on my team and we will work to save lives and not write most of the time when there is an Emergency, but if it's a normal day you can write as we go down the line. Are we clear team? Remember we work as a teamwork, we finish as a teamwork and please if you don't know anything about a certain subject,or activity notify me and ask your team mates, you'll never know that they would know about the certain subject." We all nodded in unison.

            I guess you can say we were blessed to get Dr. Lee, he is an understanding and very chill person once you work with him, but he can be a rebel when it comes to certain things. That is what we love about him, he taught us so much down the road, it is insane how amazingly he can work while babysitting us at the same time. We admired him for his work, dedication and passion in this particular field. 

" Alright, I will see you all soon." Dr. Lee bid us a farewell. We gather our notebooks, and our devices and walked out. Usually we would have seminars or lectures early morning, but today only focused on clinical work. 

" Alright our first patient for today, is James Garen. He isn't showing any kind of crucial symptoms, I'll start the paperwork while you assess the patient?" Rose asked suggestively. I nod to agree, while the other two men were working on another patient who isn't showing any signs of severe symptoms either. 

I walk to the front door, and pull out the information of the patient, knocking on the door while reading, I hear a 'come in' voice on the other side. I opened it slowly and smiled at the patient. 

       " Hello my name is Ha-eun I am a student doctor, working with Dr Lee attending , I would be assessing or asking questions about why you are here today, would that be alright?" 

Mr. Garen nods as I bomber him with questions. 

We finish questioning him, and we called for Dr. Lee, we as medical students are not able to take action on what to do with the patient. We informed him on what was his symptoms and so on. 

     "Good work ladies, alright I will start to treat the patient now. You ladies are ready to go to the next patient." 

The whole day was tiring, and we did ended up getting a black code, it started suddenly around 12 midnight, we were all sweating like pigs. I always wonder why I even want to try to become a Surgeon in the first place, but I love helping people in my daily lives. 

"Hey Ha-Eun, nice work today!" Rose exclaim, I nod my head and smile at her. I'm glad I met Rose at certain times, but sometime I just want to hit her on her head, because she just ask questions that shouldn't be answered, but I still love her. So, we bid our good bye to everyone and head out. 

  I walk to my car, which was the farthest from everyone, it was on the side of the hospital, but suddenly I saw something lit up behind the building, and than a shake came directly towards that direction. I was curious and confused at the same time. My curiosity getting the best of me, I walk over behind the building and peek to look what's going on. 

   My eyes were bulging out of my sockets, this oval swirling water like light, almost grayish in a upright position, and the ground looked like some kind of bomb that went through, suddenly I heard footsteps? I kid you not, what I am seeing was an older lady with a hanbok came out of it. What type of craziness I am seeing?! I accidentally took a step forward, and step on a can causing it to make a sound. Suddenly the older lady swiftly look at my direction. I couldn't move or even blink, my eyes were glued on to her. 

 The old lady squinted her eyes and than gasp, like she recognized me from somewhere. 

   "너야! 아이, 당신은이 인스턴스를 나와 함께 가야합니다!" ( It's you! Child, you must come with me this instance!) she took large steps grabbing my arms. I snap out of shock and shook her off.

"What in the world you talking about!? Who are you, What is this? What is going on!?" She stared at me in question. I realized I had spoken to her in English, I mentally face palm myself. 

"Dangsin-eun segyeeseo mueos-e daehae iyagihago issseubnikka !? Nuguseyo? Yeogiseo museun il-iya?!" I restated my questions to her in Korean, but the old lady still staring at me like I had grown two heads.

" Geunyeoneun saaghan eon-eoleul hal su issseubnida " ( She speaks evil language.) The old lady mutters, Why would she say I speak some sort of devils language? It's just freaking  English.

"Halmeoni, yeong-eo ilppun-ibnida! ( Granny, it's just English!)

" Yeong-eo? museun soli ya!" (English? What are you talking about!")  She grab me by the arm and just threw me towards the swirling oval. Damn, for a granny she is quite strong. 

         I was waiting to be hit bit by some type of glass, but I didn't feel anything, I open my eyes and were met with complete darkness, My eyelid began to feel heavy and I slowly started to drift off into a deep slumber.
