One day, in his final year, a young girl rushing to her class bumped into him, scattering her books and papers and causing the bag he carried, containing his only meal for the day, to hit the ground, spilling. She was almost in tears, apologizing and frantically trying to scoop up his food from the ground. He touched her shoulder and with smiles calmed her down. Helped her pick up her books and papers, handed them to her and assured her that he was okay, no harm done. She rushed on to her class and he stayed behind to clean up the mess his food had made on the ground. He grimaced as he threw the bag away in the trash can and wondered what he would do for dinner.
