Chapter 5
•XOILA•
“Fae are you sure about this?”
she looked me dead in the eyes and gave me a stern nod “ Yes, the Alpha sent me in to keep watch on you both” Fae was one of the strongest pack warriors the perfect soldier and bodyguard.
I mean 2 rouge attacks on this pack and she survived both... that takes skill
“What about momma and papa?” I looked over at Stacy her eternal happy mood wavering at the thought of losing them.
It’s then I noticed the fear in her eyes.
Did my eyes look the same way?
“Don't worry I'll do my best to keep track of the situation through the pack link” I looked over at her and her eyes were glazed over.
When we communicate through the pack link our eye glaze over and look as if there's a fog coming over the iris.
Sadly rouges werewolves that have been exiled from pack life commonly attack packs with low defenses and the last couple of years haven’t made it easy to fix
It’s gotten worse
Rouges usually live on their own or sometimes band together against packs that judged them “unfairly” or mistreated them but it's just all based on the situation
Some have been kicked out from their packs if they committed a heinous crime, like killing another pack member, physically assaulting them whether violently or sexually.
Sexual assaults are intolerable acts that are usually punished by execution.
Another offense punishable by execution is attempting to attack or overthrow the alphas family
Sadly it isn't rare to encounter a s**t alpha (its rare to find a kind alpha-like Stacy's Dad who treats pack members kindly and respectfully no matter what their social status in the werewolf hierarchy is).
Evil alphas are said to treat their pack members as slaves ruling with an iron fist and controlling them with fear of brutal punishments.
Alphas like those just throw pack members out because he doesn't like them.
Although some werewolves simply become rouges because they might find it better to leave a life of constant abuse and mistreatment, most runaway. You might think good for them their finally free to live as they want without the constant fear of being abused.
But not everyone is lucky fate is a cruel creature he makes it difficult and leads you down paths of unfair encounters, I say this because when you go MIA on your pack sometimes the alpha will send out trackers to get the pack deserter back to punish them for the disloyalty and “ungratefulness”
There have been stories told and rumors spread about whole families meeting death for trying to leave the pack without the alpha's permission.
But sometimes it’s because they were left with no choice like Meztli…
“The Rogues have breached the north and the south border” Fae began to speak giving up a play by play. She was of the only werewolves that we knew of who had the ability to see threw other pack members' eyes without their consent.
She never really liked being so invasive but that's how she was always lucky to get out of harm's way being able to anticipate enemy attacks by seeing what they see
She calls it her FPS (1st person shooter). “Our pack is giving it all they got trying to take as many rouges on as they can”
I looked at her and then Stacy who nodded and we moved Fae from where she stood to sit at my bed. We grabbed at her arms and then her knees buckled giving out beneath her, lucky and thank the goddess that we were strong enough to support her.
Tears started streaming down her face “We’ve lost 6 pack members... The old alpha was one of them”, once you shift you the pack link connects you with others and like when I lost my parents you feel when a member of your pack dies.
I gasped in shock hearing a soft thud, I turned saw as Stacy had fallen to the ground clutching her chest withering in pain.
I knelt down taking her in my arms pulling her up resting her head on my chest.
I started to gently run a hand over her hair to try and soothe the pain she was feeling as my vision blurred and I felt a tear fall down my face. I looked up at Fae hearing her say “ The alphas charging in” her eyes glowing gold as she slipped into the mind of the alpha.
•AMITH•
“Stay here and do not make a sound” the group of elders nodded and some gave words of encouragement. I stopped in my tracks as I heard a sighed of frustration “Best of luck boy”
I furrowed my brows groaning internally as I looked into the group and my eyes landed my old man
Once a 6’8 man with an eternal scowl on his face and fire in his topaz eyes now reduced to a fragile-looking bag of bones.
“I’ll keep them safe and protect them son” I shook my head “No you will not you shall all keep quiet and wait till this is over”
My father the stubborn old alpha growled out “Don't underestimate me, boy, we’ll fight till the death for this pack. No matter my age I'll always be a warrior and fight for my pack”
I shook my head at the stubborn old man “Fine... but please be careful father” before I walked out he called
“Don't do anything stupid”
A laugh escaped me as I ran shifting, my bones popped and cracked reforming into my dark gray wolf Amir.
So its time to make these rouges regret the day they came into existence he growled lowly
They won't see what hit them
I told him smirking and giving him full control.
•AMIR•
I came charging into battle now that our old man was safe
I couldn't help but rejoice as Amith gave me full control letting out a loud growl as I ran into the chaos that was unfolding before me. I looked and saw as some of my best warriors are shooting from the watchtowers as the rouges seemed to be coming in from every direction.
I saw as my members ran low on ammunition tossing their weapons some taking on the rouge in either human or wolf form as they continued fighting.
We all hesitated at the wave of burning in my chest spread through my body as 5 of my pack members died and it scorched me as I let out a howl feeling the loss of my father.
SALLY
Amith roared as the burning loss of our father fueled our anger and worry
We need to make sure shes safe but she seemed to be blocking my link he said again
Distracted by our attempts to reach our mate I picked up a rancid scent as a a dirty looking rogue with blood-covered brown fur came charging at me (based on his size he was a beta) he may think he’s quick but he ain’t quick enough I charged right back at him knocking him off his paws into a tree upon impact he let out a low whimper.
Before he could move I lunged at him biting into his throat until I heard a satisfying CRACK
I turned away running and killing any rouge that dared to get in my way.
‘Lyra! Sally!’
I pushed trying to break the wall around her communications I tried and tried but to no luck. I turned attacking a rouge that had cornered a she-wolf and her pup.
Pouncing and snapping the rouges neck, then motioned for the she wolf to run to the packhouse.
“Thank you alpha” she picked up her pup and ran.
I turned to charge another rouge that was charging at a small child protecting a toddler.
I tackled the female rogue knocking her down as she tried to swipe at me with her claws, she continued to put up a fight trying to bite me.
I snarled as she landed a scratch on my back, kicking at her with my back leg and then pouncing on her snapping her neck.
I felt a push and let my wall down
‘Alpha the rogues have the luna surrounded by the north border I don't think she can hold off for long’
I whimpered as I suddenly felt the burning on my left leg.
She’s hurt Amith who had been quiet up until now spoke
Go to her
I ran faster than fast killing the rogues that crossed my path to the northern border.
I could smell her scent when Lyra and Sally’s wall fell
‘We love you keep Stacy and Xoila safe… don't... Let them take them’
that when I felt the sharp pain in my chest...
the unbearable soul shattering pain of losing your mate.
•3rd POV•
The alpha was enraged and charged at the rogues who took his mates life, ripping every single one's throat out.
When the last one fell he trudged towards his beautiful mate nuzzling her sandy brown fur trying to get her to move.
He couldn't accept it
The tears spilled down his snout and his eyes began to change glowing a rusty red flickering between amber and red.
He was fighting trying to keep his sanity for the sake of his pups.
But he fell over and his eyes flickered back and forth until they finally turned red, he stood howling in pain as his sanity snapped.
***
The pack fought giving it there all swiping with their claws and ripping throats out. Those who waited to shift fought with all their might snapping necks and shooting at the rouges keeping each other safe as others tried to reload their weapons.
The sky was dark and rain began to fall when they all felt it the pain of losing their Luna. Many let out melancholic howls as they fought in honor of their fallen Luna.
It seemed as if time had slowed as they all then heard a thundering howl of pain from their Alpha who came charging and looking rabid killing anyone who got in his path.
Many tried to stop him but when a wolf goes feral there was only one way to stop them.
They had to kill him
But no one could bring themselves to do it as the alpha continued to attack pack members.
Tragically Amith was fighting with all he could to take back control so that he could stop Amir and keep his promise to his mate but his wolf counterpart was blinded by the pain of losing
his mate.
He knew Amir couldn't help his actions as he killed rogues and pack members, the alpha wolf had let the pain of losing his mate consume his mind and lost control.
Amith fought as he tried to shift back but all he heard was screams as he killed pack members that had been hidden in the packhouse.
Amith heard glass shattering and knew where he was headed he peered through Amir’s eyes and couldn't believe what he was seeing.
He knew that a feral wolf could no longer see reason but to go after your pup only meant he was too far gone
