"What are you doing here?" Genevieve asked. I almost scoffed at her question. I was supposed to be the one answering the question. "This is my house, you're the intruder here," I snapped.
She burst into laughter as if I had just said the funniest thing in the world. "Your house? You mean Derek's house" she said. I gasped at her words. No one had the right to call him by his name, except me.
"I'm surprised you even showed your face here after you killed the future alpha of the pack" she accused. I was infuriated, she didn't have any right to accuse me for the death of my unborn child.
"How dare you!" I yelled, my hands were trembling by my side, they itched to slap her face. "Why? Isn't it true that you killed your child? If you hadn't been so stupid to stand in the sun for two hours you would still be pregnant" Genevieve said, there was a hint of mockery in her voice.
I raised my hand to slap her but stopped it mid-air, I couldn't let her get the best of me. "Go ahead, hit me! Hit me!" She yelled, trying to provoke me.
"Leave before I ask the guards to kick you out!" I threatened but it didn't work on her, she looked me dead in the eye as If daring me to call the guards. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Daphne hiding behind the stairways, which seemed to be her safe spot.
"Get out of my way" I snapped and walked past her with our shoulders lightly brushing each other. I had already walked past her when I felt something pull my hair hard causing me to stagger backwards.
"And who do you think you are walking out on me like that?" She yelled, at this point, it became obvious that she was just trying to start a fight and I wasn't going to give her that.
"Do you think you can walk out on me?" She asked, standing akimbo.
I really didn't have the strength to deal with Genevieve, I had just spent two weeks at the hospital after suffering a miscarriage. I needed to be in bed.
"Just let me go, I need to rest" I said, almost pleading at this point but it seemed like Genevieve was out to get me that day as she kept blocking my way with a sinister smile playing on her lips.
"You know it's funny how you accuse me of killing my child, especially after all the ones you've killed" I snapped, this seemed to trigger Genny, her face turned pale. She had been so secretive about her abortions but I knew about them.
I took this opportunity to walk past her feeling victorious but then I saw Daphne yell from her hideout "Watch out!"
I spun around to see Genevieve's leg mid-air headed at me, I quickly jumped out of the way which caused her to fall, bruising her elbow in the process.
I was about to help her up when I felt someone's hand on my shoulder and was pulled back harshly.
It was Derek. He scooped Genevieve into his arms and carried her up in a bridal style. His eyes showed so much care and concern, something he had never shown for me.
"WHAT DID YOU DO!" He yelled, the concern in his eyes was suddenly replaced with anger and hatred. "I didn't do anything, she..." I was cut off by two guards grabbing me by my arms. Wait! What was going on?
"Lock her up!" He ordered, he had to be joking.
Before I could say a word, I was dragged away by two guards to the palace dungeon and then transferred to the Pack's station.
As if it wasn't humiliating enough that I, the Luna of the pack, was being imprisoned, I was put in a cell with a lot of criminals.
For days, I waited for a guard to open the cell gate and tell me that it was all a prank, for Derek to burst in here and apologize for everything but that never happened.
For the first two days, my cellmates showed me a little respect for Luna, but that ended after they realized that the Alpha had abandoned me there, which meant they could do anything to me. My inability to shift made it even worse.
It started from yelling at me to ordering me around then after a week they began to hit me and hurl insults at me.
Every day I spent in the cell, a part of the love I had for Derek began to disappear.
Daphne visited me sometimes and brought food for me too but it was often stolen by my cellmates who had by then made it their goal to make my life a living hell.
"Luna, you have a visitor!" The prison guard yelled, I was escorted to the visiting room where I expected to see Daphne as usual but to my horror, I saw Genevieve sitting down there with a sinister smile playing on her face.
I tried my best to look unaffected by her presence, but I could feel my hands shaking by my side.
"I see you decided to pay me a visit" I said with an uninterested expression but there was no way I could fool Genny, she knew me too well.
"You look like trash, what happened to you?" She asked with the fakest pity tone, I wanted to reach over the table and slap her across the cheek but I had to control myself.
"I've asked Derek to release you soon. I wouldn't want you to miss my coronation," she added. My stomach dropped. Coronation?
Derek was really replacing me? With her? How could he!
I felt betrayed, wronged and a lot of other unexplainable emotions. "That's not true, he can't coronate you while we're still mates" I retaliated.
"Which is exactly why we need you to be there, hon, for the separation" she whispered.
"NOOO!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and jumped up grabbing her shirt in my hands. Two guards quickly intervened and separated us, dragging me back to my cell.
That day, it became official, I hated Derek!
