The Two Worlds
Episode 2: A Stranger in the Mirror
Arjun hated chaos.
Unfortunately, chaos seemed to love him.
Standing in Maya's apartment, he stared at the mirror for the tenth time.
The girl staring back wasn't him.
Dark hair.
Sharp eyes.
A small scar above her eyebrow.
Maya Nair.
No matter how many times he blinked, the reflection remained the same.
"This is impossible," he muttered.
A voice crackled through the earpiece.
"Agent Maya, report immediately. Mission briefing in ten minutes."
Before Arjun could answer, the connection ended.
Mission?
Briefing?
He was a lawyer, not a spy.
Meanwhile, Maya was having problems of her own.
"Mr. Menon, your client is waiting."
A middle-aged assistant stood outside the office.
Maya stared blankly.
Client?
She knew how to pick locks, hack security systems, and survive combat training.
She had absolutely no idea how to be a lawyer.
The assistant frowned.
"Are you feeling alright, sir?"
"Perfectly fine," Maya lied.
Inside, she was panicking.
Hours later, both received another mysterious message.
MEET AT THE CLOCK TOWER. MIDNIGHT. COME ALONE.
No sender.
No explanation.
That night, rain poured over the city.
The ancient clock tower stood abandoned at the edge of town.
Arjun arrived first.
Moments later, Maya appeared.
For the first time, they saw each other.
Or rather...
They saw themselves.
Arjun stared at his own body standing across from him.
Maya stared at hers.
The experience was deeply unsettling.
"This is your fault," Arjun said immediately.
"You keep saying that."
"Because it's true."
"You touched the artifact too!"
"That's not the point."
"It literally is the point."
Before the argument could continue, the clock tower began to shake.
The ancient gears overhead started moving.
A blue light erupted from the center of the floor.
Symbols appeared across the walls.
Symbols neither of them recognized.
Then a voice echoed through the tower.
Ancient.
Powerful.
Not human.
"The Mirror has broken."
"The worlds are merging."
"Only the Key Bearers can restore balance."
Arjun and Maya exchanged worried glances.
"Key Bearers?" Maya asked.
The voice continued.
"Find the First Key before the Shadow Collector does."
Suddenly, images flashed before them.
A hidden temple.
A serpent carved from black stone.
A glowing key buried beneath an ancient tree.
And a figure wearing a golden mask.
Watching them.
Smiling.
The vision vanished.
The tower fell silent.
Then another message appeared on both their phones.
FIRST KEY LOCATION FOUND.
FOREST OF NERIYAMANGALAM.
72 HOURS REMAINING.
For the first time, Arjun looked genuinely afraid.
Maya noticed.
And surprisingly...
She smiled.
"Looks like you're coming on a spy mission, Lawyer."
Arjun groaned.
Somewhere deep within the forest, the hunt for the First Key had already begun.
And they were not the only ones searching.
To Be Continued...
Episode 3 can take them into a hidden Kerala forest temple where they discover the First Key and come face-to-face with the mysterious Shadow Collector.
