Case #2: The Arrest

Next morning, a call came from a neighboring police station regarding Arun's arrest. One of the cameras caught him, in front of an ATM. Police searched the hotels, found him. He tried to ingest the rat poison but they caught him in time. He confessed everything & also led them to the place where he dumped the knife. They're bringing him here now.

David was interrogating Arun " So, Mr. Malhotra, where to begin? These are the charges: 1st-degree murder of Mr. Naveen Bhatia & Manu Singh, obstruction of justice, misleading the police, criminal conspiracy, avoiding arrest & so on. We found the knife with your prints on it. Forensics is also able to confirm that the poison obtained from you, is the same one found in Naveen's stomach. You're very careful not to show your face to the shopkeeper, or in the CCTV inside the shop by covering your face. But there's another CCTV outside of the shop caught you going in all covered, but when you came out your face is uncovered. You didn't know that there's another camera. So what happened? You just snapped? Because you couldn't accept the fact that Amrita is more happy with Naveen than she is with you, is that it? You're planning this from the beginning, no? We know about the threats. Speak."

Arun " Yes, I couldn't withstand her being happy with someone other than me. If she's not with me, then no one could ever have her. I killed Naveen so that I could be with her again"

David " Why did you kill Manu?"

Arun " He was my accomplice, I threatened him & even paid him to poison Naveen's food & to keep quiet. But he told me that he was going to confess everything. I couldn't let him do that. I went there, tried to bribe him but to no use. I always have a knife with me, I used it to slit his throat, then I left."

David " Crime never pays Mr. Malhotra. Now did you killed Preeti too?"

Arun " What! no! I didn't kill her!"

David " Now don't waste everyone's time by lying to us. I will ask again. Did you kill her?"

Arun " No, I am telling you guys the truth. I already confessed to one murder, why would I lie about the other one."

Outside the interrogation room, Smriti " So, we got one killer." David " Yes. But who killed Preeti & why?"
