CHAPTER 7
LUCAS’S POV
I noticed Liam kept mute while we discussed on what to do with Camilla. I guessed his silence at that time to mean something else. And that was that he wasn't in support of all I and Lucien were deciding about her.
"Don't tell me you have something else in mind about that girl, Liam" I asked, making him face me by force.
"That should be the least of your concern right now. If I have something else in mind, I think there's what we call privacy." Liam answered.
Lucien stood on his toes, right in front of Liam.
"Are you listening to yourself? Did you just talk about privacy when this matter concerns us three? Did you?"
"I'm not disputing that. But that doesn't mean I don't have the right to my own opinions." Liam justified himself.
"If you say so. Just in case, remember we're in this together. And so you may know, we aren't accepting her as our mate for any other purpose asides healing our wolves and doing away with the curse." I said.
"For that purpose, we gave to protect her, right?" Liam asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course, she should be protected. But that should only be until she is no longer useful to us. No one should think of treating her specially." I concluded.
"Why do you despise her so much?" Liam asked me.
"Despise? Hell no! There's no way I'm going to waste my precious time hating her. She's not worth it." I retorted and Liam smirked, flipping a small object around his forefinger.
"He's right. She's not worth our hate. But thinking about it, we don't deserve someone like her." Lucien supported my words.
"Come what may, Camilla is our mate and it will remain that way. Nothing can change it. Be it she's worthy of being our mate or not is not for you to decide. It's been ordained by the moon goddess. I'll advise you succumb to fate and treat her right. The moon goddess never does things without purpose." Liam said.
"Why are you talking this way? No one said she's not going to be treated right."
"It's not the matter of who said what. It's about what I know you two are capable of doing." Liam pointed his fingers at I and Lucien.
"Anyway, Liam is right. At the moment, she's indispensable and should be treated right in order to gain what we need from her. You know, it's going to leave a sting if she dies or gets in trouble when we're not cures of our curse. We've been through a lot before getting this opportunity of meeting her. They say, opportunity comes but once." I sighed.
"That doesn't matter, if she dies, it'll only mean that we strive harder to find other sources for the cure. We've weathered through worse and we will also go through it" Lucien said.
"Well...I'm not really in support of all this, neither do I have time to debate the issue with you but it's true that we gave Camilla a choice and she chose power and wealth over her freedom. She chose to be with us. So, I'll say it's all on her if she's going to be treated right or wrong. Her actions call the shots." Lucien added almost immediately after which a brief silence descended in the room.
Liam cleared his throat, breaking the silence accompanied with a huge and noisy sigh. Immediately, I and Lucien directed our gaze towards him, asking him what it was. Whenver he does that way, it's always that he has something in mind which he's about to say.
"Why do I think that we have something left to do?" He asked, not directing the question to anyone in particular.
"Which is?" I and Lucien asked back in unison.
"I suggest we tell her the reason for our curse and...." He trailed off.
"Can you please keep quiet? Just listen to yourself." Lucien, being the fiercer one stood up to Liam, almost yelling at him.
"Did I say wrong? It'll only make her on our side the more if she were to know about the reason for our curse and how everything came about...." Liam tried explaining himself but was interrupted and denied the chance.
"Shhhh! Just keep quiet." Lucien snapped at him, placing his left hand on Liam's mouth roughly while hitting his back on the wall as an impact of the push to stop him from saying unnecessary things.
Liam struggled with Lucien and finally succeeded in freeing himself.
"What's wrong with you? Is there anything more to this matter I'm not aware of?" He asked, staring hard at Lucien before diverting his gaze to look at me.
"Why are you stopping me from talking?" Liam asked once again but got no reply. Instead, he dropped his hands from Liam's lips and began walking out of the study as he stared at us in confusion.
No one answered him and he shook his head didatisfactorily in anger. Turning the door knob, he stopped his motion, and turned around taking one last look at us. Lucien smirked at him, angering Liam the more.
Liam pulled the door open and a loud thud followed surprising everyone. Camilla's falling body made the loud thud. She must have been listening in on what we were saying on the other side for her to be so engrossed and not knowing about Liam wanting to open to the door.
"Ouchh!" She murmured inaudibly with her eyes tightly closed. She must have felt embarrassed at the incident that she scrunched up her face.
Apparently, she had her ear to the door, so the impact has her falling down flat on the floor. The three of us were so shocked with Liam being most shocked of us all as Camilla tried to stand up.
I and Lucien exchanged glances, asking each other unspoken questions with our gestures.
Camilla finally got back on her feet, but was short of words as her gaze met with my scary one.
