The Unexpected Stranger : Chapter 8

240 Words
Rooh was walking back from college, the afternoon sun casting a soft glow on the streets. Her mind was still swirling with thoughts from the morning and the memories of Laiba’s emotions. Along the way, a small house caught her eye, a place she usually overlooked. But this time, something was different — through the window, she noticed an elderly man sitting alone. Rooh had never seen this man before, nor had she ever noticed anyone in that house. Her curiosity was instantly piqued. Rooh (thinking): Who is he? And this house… why have I never noticed it before? She slowed her pace, standing slightly to the side, observing from a distance. The elderly man had a gentle smile as he wrote or read something inside his small room. Rooh couldn’t tell exactly what he was doing, but there was a sense of peace and calm in his demeanor. Rooh (thinking): There’s something different about him… like he’s completely separate from the noise of everyday life. Somehow, I’ve passed by here so many times and never noticed. For a few moments, Rooh just watched, feeling a strange mix of curiosity and slight apprehension. She decided that someday soon, she would come closer to understand this man and his little home. The sounds of bells and traffic faded into the background, but in Rooh’s mind, this elderly man and the small house had already become the beginning of a new story.
