Kay’s POV Waking up I feel a warm breath on my face and my eyes shoot open, but I calm down seeing that it was Trent. I pick my head up to check on Bella, but she wasn’t there, I look back down at Trent hearing him groan. “Finally you’re up. I thought your big head was gonna kill my arm.” Trent slid his arm from beneath me. “No one told you to fall asleep with your arm under my head, but thank you. Ayana must be looking for me.” I say watching Trent’s face scrunch up. “You’ve been spending a lot of time with her. You like herrrrr.” Trent said teasing me, my face heated up and I punched the arm that was under my head and he yelped holding his shoulder. “Maybe.” I laughed watching Trent’s face carefully. His eyes shined brightly and he sat on his elbows with a large smile. “Really!” Trent asked excitedly pushing me. “Yea. I like her.” I just might like you little more. “I’m happy for you!” I shook my head at him, “What's wrong?” “Nothing Trent. Thank you, ”and smiled. “You’re being a weirdo, but whatever, let’s go upstairs.” I smile relieved that he didn’t press further as I helped him stand up and we walk upstairs, bumping into each other playfully we were putting each other in headlocks when someone cleared their throat. I look over and see Rowan making me instantly let go of Trent and smile sheepishly, “Sorry Rowan.” “It’s whatever. Just don't be a dumbass and exert yourself or I'll hang you from your ears.” Rowan joked walking away. Trent tugged on my arm, “Come on let's go play video games while I make breakfast for you, how does that sound?” “Great. I don't know what I did to deserve you as my friend, but I'm grateful. ” Trent smiled and ruffled my hair. “Hey.” “Its for horses, but better for cows, let's go. Set up the game you wanna play and we’ll play when I get upstairs.” Trent says placing a kiss on my forehead as he left me alone in his room. I’m gonna kill him. I put my hands to my face feeling it burn up. Trent’s POV “Hey, Trent, whatcha doing?” Joey asked. “How’s Kay?” Ayana asked, of course, she asked. I shouldn't get upset, she's just worried. Why am I upset that she asked? “Kay’s doing better and I'm waiting for his favorite foods to come. He likes to stress eat and he's not eating my snacks.” The girls laughed, but I was dead serious. I know Kay’s hurting right now, but he's not eating my snacks. Just as I finished my thought a loud bang rang out from my room. “Kay stop trying to look for my snacks you fat ass.” I yelled out, “but where's Bella and Keith?” “Now that you mention it, I don't think I've seen Bella since earlier.” “Keith and Bella went out, I don't know where, she's out with Keith.” Rowan said coming down, “How’s Kay doing?” See I'm not upset at Rowan asking, but Ayana... She can eat eggshells. “Kay’s fine, KEEPS TRYING TO LOOK FOR MY SNACKS.”, I yell and I hear Kay jump back on my bed, “He just needs to relax so we're playing video games and eating s**t. That's kinda what we do, it's worked in the past and it's continuing to work now.” A loud ring signaled that my order was here causing me to step away, “I'll talk to you guys later!” I say thanking the delivery guy and run upstairs grabbing Kay’s hidden snacks and running upstairs. “Look what I got Kay! Kay what's wrong?” I enter my room and see Kay crying. “Nothing. I'm thankful to have you as my best friend.”I inwardly cringed at those two words, best friends, that's what we are, so why do I feel like I wanna to throw up hearing those words come out his mouth? I jump on my bed as I take out his food and snacks, “Mario Kart? Alright, don't cry when I beat your ass.” “I wanna play Battle and Mirror racing, please.” Kay begged softly, he even batted his long beautiful lashes at me. He knows how to get meeee! “You are so damn lucky that I love you so much.” “Yea! And thank you for the food!” “Whatever puppy eyes.” I rolled my eyes as I ruffled his short curly hair. God, I love you. “How’d you figure out our secret?” “I asked Destiny, she told us. Kayanna and I filled in some blanks. We figured out that Akira was the reason why my house got burned down. Akira is working for a rival gang, but we just don't know who yet.” “Bea brought that up. We’ve been trying to find Akira, but everything leads to a dead-end. We don't know what to do next and we want to make sure everyone’s safe if we do anything.” I nod in understanding looking at my reflection in the pool of water behind me. “What do you think of the gardens?” Keith asked side-eyeing me. “Its lovely. Thank you for bringing me here. This is another spot I could run to.” Keith raised an eyebrow. “We can go if you'd like. I think you'd like it too. Not today though it's a far drive from Miami.” “Yet you go there whenever you're mad.” “A certain type of mad, but yes. Ever heard of Devil’s Den?” Keith shook his head, “Then we'll have to take a trip together. Let's make a promise.” Keith's face returned to being blank as he nodded. “Whenever we’re upset at something or someone we go out to our secret spots and talk it out.” “I don't know. I can get dangerous when I'm angry.” “I'm not worried. I know you're a teddy bear under there.” I say sticking out my pinkie finger. “You're a weirdo, but you wouldn't be my Shrimp if you weren't weird. Deal.” he stuck his pinkie out and wrapped it around my own. I roll my eyes with a smile and say, “Yea yea whatever. Everyone heals differently.”
