Cooking With Bella

1084 Words
Trent and I walk into the kitchen and stand on each side of her and she explained what we were going to make. “So I'm going to try to make something new. A doughnut cake. Help me find the ingredients and a big bowl.” We nodded as she read out the ingredients. “2 cups of all-purpose flour 3/4 cup of white sugar 2 teaspoons of baking powder 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon of salt 3/4 cup of milk 2 eggs beaten 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 tablespoon of shortening 1 cup of confectioners' sugar 2 tablespoons of hot water 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract” I grabbed the ingredients and Trent grabbed a big silver bowl and measuring tools. “Kay preheat the oven to 325 degrees F, then grease the pan.” Bella watched as I preheated the oven, I looked back for her nod of approval, and when I got it I grabbed the pan and greased down the pan. “I put a layer of flour so whatever I'm baking slips out better. Wanna do that?” Bella asked and I rapidly nod my head and she hands me the flour. “Trent mix the flour, baking soda, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt together. Stir in milk, eggs, vanilla and shortening now, and beat this together well and until it is all blended.” Bella checks on me, then helps Trent mix the ingredients correctly. Bella added a little bit of water to Trent’s mixture and took over mixing. “Is there things on the oven shelves. To protect the oven in case something spills?” “I don't think so, want me to put some tin foil down?” “Yes, please.” I grab some aluminum and put it down, but my dumbass touched the shelf and I pulled my hand out of the oven and Bella pulled me to the sink and ran cold water over my hand. “Stay there and let the cold water help your burn. Trent, it's time to put our creation in the oven.” “What should I put for the timer.” “Nothing, I don't use timers, but also this is something new so we're experimenting. We'll check it later, but Trent can you get the others so their food doesn't get cold?” Trent nodded and ran upstairs. “Ok, Kay, give your hand, it should be better now.” __________________________________________________________ Trent’s POV Bella sent me upstairs for the others and I burst into Rowan’s office, “Bella made dinner, and Kay and I helped her make dessert.” They were stunned, but Ayana broke it, “What did she make?” “I don't know what she made for dinner, but the three of us are making a doughnut cake. Come on I wanna hurry up and try Bella’s cooking and if it's good I'm eating it all.” I turn around and run downstairs with the others running behind me. Cuz they know I'll really eat everything if I really like it. I see Bella wrapping an ice pack in a paper towel for Kay. I wish I burned my hand. I pouted slightly before entering the kitchen. “Grab any plate you want and tell me how it is.” I grab a plate with four shrimps on top of pasta with chicken and seasoned fries. Looks and Smells delicious, but does it taste delicious? That is the question. __________________________________________________________ I looked at everyone's faces to see if any disliked my food, but I looked away to check on the dessert. It had risen, and started looking brown, “Trent can I see a chopstick or a knife, please?” Trent hands me a chopstick. I stick it in and the stick is dry. It's done! I get some holders and take the cake pan out. “This is bomb girly,” Joey said. “I’m glad you cooked, cuz this is great,” Ayana said. “Hail Queen Bella for making delicious food and dessert,” Trent said eyeing the dessert. “We still have to put the glaze on it, so it's not done quite just yet.” I was bashful from the praise they gave me and grabbed my own plate and ate as I waited for the cake to cool. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Bella, is it done cooling yettttt?” I giggled at Kay and Trent. Like, little kids. I hover my hand over it to feel the heat if any, but I didn't so I nodded. “Give me a plate, please.” Kay immediately handed a plate to me. I flipped the pan over and shook it out letting it slide out of the pan, “Trent icing, please.” Trent hands me a little bowl with confectioners' sugar, almond extract, and hot water pouring the mixture onto the cake. “Alright doughnut cake is done! Who wants some?” everyone’s hand shot up and I cut eight slices for each of us. “I don't like dessert that often, but I can eat this all day,” Keith said, making the others look at him in surprise. “Alright, so Belladonna is officially the pastry chef,” Rowan said with a smile and wink at me. I rolled my eyes, I was gonna call him dramatic, but Joey spoke up. “Yea. Agreed. So Bella you don't know this but Keith hates sweets and desserts, and if he's saying he could eat this all day, you have a gift.” Joey said and Keith rolled his eyes. “I don't hate sweets and desserts. I don't eat them often. I'm picky about treats.” Keith started with a shrug. “Whatever, but you get the point. He doesn't care for treats unless it's made the way he prefers it. Unlike me. I eat anything and everything, without a fuss.” Trent said proudly. “Yea Trent’s the human garbage disposal,” Beatriz said taking another bite of her cake. “You're being too nice Bea he’s a vacuum,” Joey said. “You're both wrong he's a black hole. Eating everything in sight.” Rowan said making Bea and Joey point their forks at him in agreement. “I can't even deny that,” Trent said making them laugh, and Keith smile slightly. “Alright well, I'm on dish duty so-” “Trent and I got it, Bella.” Kay cut me off. I went to retort but Trent and Kay were blocking the sink leaving no room for me to argue back. “Fine.” I groan and hand them a plate, “I’m going to sleep, night night.” There was a collective yell of good night's and thank yous. I went to my room and plopped onto the bed, falling asleep instantly. __________________________________________________________ Unknown’s POV “Was burning that families’ house down necessary?” Akira asked me, “You didnt target the Double Dragons, there was no point in doing that.” “You started the fire.” “You made the plan.” I slapped my forehead. We aren't getting anywhere arguing like children. “Ok, I made the plan, there's always room for improvement. I know to plan better and make sure they feel it the next time.
