Day of the Graduation Party

I woke up to the sunlight beaming through my window and my blonde hair onto my eyelids.

Groaning I turn on my side trying to go back to sleep and escape the brightness, but I was already up. I turn on my phone and it reads 12:30. Not as early as I thought it was.

I stretch and hop in the shower hearing noise and movement downstairs. I put on a white t-shirt and a dark blue knee-length skirt with a brown belt and brown flats.

I walk downstairs to see people bustling around the house with my parents directed the workers around. If they act like this for a graduation party, I can’t wait to see how they act on my wedding day. I thought with a small smile.

“Good afternoon Mom and Mother!” I called over the ruckus and both their heads snap over to me and they smile.

“Afternoon sleepy head.” Mother said coming up to hug me tightly and place a kiss on my forehead, “Are you excited for today?” Mother asked into my hair as she stroked it back. I nod smiling into her chest.

“Yes, I am Mother. Thank you, thank you both for everything.” I say lifting my head to look at both my parents and they both give me soft smiles as Mom joins the hug.

“That’s cute and all but you guys are blocking the stairs.”

“Shut up Kayanna, come here.” I wave my arm around trying to feel for her, I felt her wrist and pull her forward into a family hug. I felt her laugh and then relax.

“Sorry to interrupt, but some of the decorators are arguing on how the balloons should look. If you guys wouldn’t mind...” Cosmia trailed off.

“We’re coming.” Mom said sighing as she and Mother left the group hug to deal with the decorators.

“You went racing last night?”

“Yea. This guy gave me a run for my money though. His name is Keith Vida I think, pretty cute.” Kaya said with a shrug as she walked further down the stairs, “Oh Keith is a friend of Beatriz. I saw her last night. She did a whole background check on me for the company they work for. I find it pretty weird if you ask me. ” Kaya said as she walked into the kitchen and I follow after her.

“Why do you find it weird? Wasn’t it a company that asks you to join rather than you asking? I think it makes sense for them to do some research on your background.”

“Maybe, but something about it makes my gut twist. Enough about that, what are your plans till the party?”

“I was gonna walk around and enjoy the sun while I could. Boston has some bipolar ass weather. I wanna absorb all the sun that I can!”

Kaya stared at me, “Be back in time to get ready for me to do your hair and makeup. Have fun and call us if anything.”

“I know!” I called back as I walked outside sighing at the warm feeling of the sun as I walked around the familiar neighborhood, going into a familiar playground watching as many kids ran around, some were on the swings being pushed but their guardians. Some teens were on the basketball court while some girls were playing tennis it was lovely seeing all these people out and about.

I sit on a park bench where the sun beaming down just watching the people bustle around the park. I missed moments like these.

Cosima’s POV

After calling over my boss and her wife I lead them to the arguing idiotic decorators. Balloons of all things. I mentally slap my forehead watching the scene unfolding before me.

“Would someone explain to me what this argument is about? Cosima, please check on the other workers.” I nod and turn away to let them handle it.

“Cosima wait up!” I slightly turn my head to see Kayanna running towards me.

“What’s up Kaya?” I raise an eyebrow at the piece of paper she has in her hands.

“Can you do me a favor?,” She pauses and I nod, “Find out everything you can about Keith Vida and Beatriz Lucca, here are their names.”

“How do you know about them?” Does she know about the Double Dragons?

“I met her and a girl named Joey in Mint’s shop and we talked for a bit. I went out later that night and Beatriz and Keith are there, Beatriz did a whole background check on me after a couple of hours. It’s pretty unnerving.” She doesn’t know about the Double Dragons, good.

“Their boss is the son of a friend of your Mother’s, personal and business. I’ll look into the two of them if you still want me to.”

“Yea thanks, Cosima!” Kayanna said as I walked away. I have to talk to Viorica.

“Hey, Cosima how are the other workers doing?” Viorica asked when I came back outside.

“Boss we gotta talk.” Viorica looked concerned.

“We’ll talk in my office.” She shooed me upstairs as she and Lilith talked in hush voices.

I heard footsteps approach, “What’s wrong Cosima?

“Kaya just asked for me to do a check on Beatriz and Keith cuz she met them. She met Beatriz and Joey in Mint’s shop. Then went out and Beatriz with Keith saw her. Beatriz did a whole background check on her after a couple of hours. From what I can tell she doesn’t know anything about the Double Dragons.”

Viorica let out a sigh, “We’ll deal with it later. Tonight is about Bella and her accomplishments. If anything happens tonight, I’ll talk to Rowan.” I nod in understanding.

“I’ll stay to make sure everything goes smoothly. Go start getting dressed.” Viorica nodded and walked out of her office and I follow after going downstairs, seeing Lilith at the bottom of the stairs.

"Don't worry Lilith go upstairs and change, I got it." She gave me a look but I shooed her up the stairs walking around to make sure everything was perfect.

"Come Kaya I didn't come home that late. The guests aren't even here! You haven't even showered!"

"This isn't my party now is? Come on, go shower, and wash your hair." Kayanna pushed me upstairs into my room, "You don't need clothes, just wear your undies and I can get started." I nod and grab a pair of clean undies then hopped in the shower. I wash my hair, moisturize, and wash my body then when I hopped out of the shower I lotioned my skin and then jumped on my bed where Kaya was so she could start and I played around on my phone.
