As Maya persisted in her decision to follow her heart, her mother's anger grew into a blazing inferno that consumed everything in its path. She began to poison the minds of Maya's siblings, relatives both near and far, casting shadows of doubt and distrust over Maya's aspirations and intentions. Maya's siblings, once her closest allies, turned their backs on her, swayed by the web of deception spun by their mother. The once warm and welcoming family home now felt like a cold, desolate place, haunted by the echoes of shattered bonds and broken trust. Even Maya's relatives abroad, who had always held her in high regard, succumbed to the venomous words that painted her as a wayward soul, blinded by false promises and fleeting dreams. Despite the tempest of disapproval and rejection that raged around her, Maya stood firm in her resolve, drawing strength from the unwavering love she felt for Chris and the belief in the potential of their shared future. Together, Maya and Chris embarked on their journey to a new beginning, leaving behind the echoes of discord and resentment that lingered in the shadows of their past. As they forged ahead, hand in hand, united in their dreams and aspirations, Maya found solace in the knowledge that true happiness lay not in the approval of others, but in the courage to follow one's heart, no matter the cost. Chris, a beacon of unwavering support and kindness, had been by Maya's side through life's joys and tribulations ever since the conception of their friendship. Their friendship had weathered its fair share of storms, but through it all, Chris had stood resolute, a pillar of strength in Maya's life. One evening, as the sun dipped below the skyline and painted the city in hues of orange and pink, Maya found herself sitting with Chris in their favorite coffee shop. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee hung in the air as they talked about the future. "Chris," Maya began, her voice tinged with a mix of determination and vulnerability, "I have never been more sure of anything in my life than my dream of becoming a successful lawyer. But the road ahead seems long and daunting. Will you promise me something?" Chris turned to face Maya, his gaze unwavering. "Anything, Maya. You know I'll always have your back. What is it that you need?" Maya took a deep breath before continuing, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Promise me that you'll stay with me through thick and thin, through triumphs and failures. Promise me that you'll help me fulfill my dreams, that you'll stand by me as I build a career that can make a difference." A solemn smile played on Chris's lips as he reached out to clasp Maya's hand in his. "Maya, you have my word. I will be your steadfast companion, your unwavering supporter. I will walk by your side as you conquer mountains and navigate valleys. Together, we will weather every storm, and I will do everything in my power to see you soar higher than you ever thought possible." Days went by,and Maya's mother was still not giving in to Maya's decision. Each time Mrs.Rodrigues saw Maya, she stirred into her eyes with so much hate and disgust, reminding her that she would go any length to frustrate her as long as she's not bending to her rules as her mother. The pressure became so high that strange thought began to flood Maya's heart as she couldn't see the wrongs her mother saw in Chris and so she concluded that her mother hates her and doesn't have her best at her,"after all she has four others as consolation if she loses me" she said to her self. Maya's heart ached as she packed her bags. It was not because she was leaving her mother's house—it was the way she was leaving. The words exchanged between them cut deep, and Maya could still feel the sting of her mother's anger and disappointment. When Maya told her mother she planned to move in with Chris, her mother’s reaction was swift and unforgiving. “You’re throwing your life away,” she’d said, her voice laced with bitterness. “You’re too young to know what you want. You’re making a mistake, and you’ll regret it.” Maya had tried to reason with her mother, explaining her feelings for Chris and her desire to start her own life. But her mother refused to listen, convinced that Maya was making a foolish choice. The argument escalated, and her mother’s harsh words echoed in Maya's ears long after she left the house. Chris tried to comfort her as they drove to his father’s home. “It’ll be okay,” he said gently, holding her hand. “Your mother will come around. She just needs time.” But Maya wasn’t so sure. Her mother had always been overprotective, and Maya’s decision to leave felt like a betrayal to her. Once they arrived at Chris’s father’s house, Maya couldn’t shake the feeling of sadness that weighed heavily on her heart. Over the next few weeks, Maya reached out to her mother, calling and sending messages in the hopes of reconciliation. But her mother’s responses were cold and distant, if she responded at all. Maya's heart sank with each unanswered call, and she wondered if their relationship would ever be the same.
