Yuki: A&E? Voted Southeast Asia’s top architecture firm for three years running?

Jaime: Yes.

Yuki: That it’s the architecture firm to be in. Why?

Jaime: I applied for a job there! I’m so nervous.

Yuki: Well… do you know how long before they get back to you?

Jaime: They didn’t really say.

Yuki: Aaaw. Hang in there! I hope you hear from them soon.

Jaime: Yeah, I sure hope so.

Yuki: Jaims?

Jaime: Yes?

Yuki: Don’t worry about it too much, ok? If you get it, great! If you don’t, it’s not the only architecture firm in the world. Ok?

Yuki: The job at A&E? Aw, I’m so sorry to hear that. How are you feeling?

Jaime: Like crap. I’m sad.

Yuki: Don’t be sad, Jaime. What did I say about A&E?

Jaime: That it’s the architecture firm to be in?

Yuki: Not that, silly! The other one.

Jaime: That it’s not the only architecture firm in the world?

Yuki: That’s the one. ?? Are you working right now? You can afford not getting that job, right?

Jaime: Yeah, I am. At JJH.

Yuki: Jaime! That’s a great firm! Some argue that it’s even better than A&E. Getting that job is something you should be proud of! I know you’ve always had your heart set on A&E but sometimes our dreams don’t work out… or sometimes you just need to wait a little bit longer before you get what you want… or sometimes one dream doesn’t pan out and you have to dream new dreams.

Jaime: I don’t know, Yuki. That thought just kinda made me sadder. I think I’ll just go lock myself in my room and sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Yuki: Don’t be silly! It’s Friday night. Go call TY and go to Pobla or something. You always have fun when you guys hang out.

Jaime: Yes, mom. ☺️

Yuki: Hey! I have to go now. I’m actually out with some work folks. They’re threatening to take my phone if I don’t put it away.

Jaime: Ok… Thanks for helping me gain some perspective.

Jaime: You got that from ‘thank you?’

Yuki: Yes? You don’t ‘sound’ like the usual. Come on. You can tell Dr. Lee what’s wrong.

Jaime: Haha! I’m not really sure if anything’s wrong… Maybe it’s more… it’s my birthday but it’s also Valentine’s and I guess today, of all days, I feel alone?

Yuki: You’re not seeing anyone right now?

Jaime: I’m not. Are you?

Yuki: I kinda started seeing someone, yeah.

Jaime: Anyone I know?

Yuki: I’m pretty sure no… but, come to think of it… Do you know any Paolo Herrera?

Jaime: No… but babe?

Yuki: Babe???

Jaime: Babe. If you just wanted to go out with a Herrera, you know you could have the original, right?

Yuki: You want me to go out with your ancestor?

Jaime: LOL. Is this Paolo Herrera at least half as amazing as me?

Yuki: Hmmm… he’s actually gorgeous AND taller than you.

Jaime: Ouch. You can say this to me on my birthday? Oops! Will it make you feel better if I tell you that although he’s gorgeous, you somehow still look way hotter? It’s not fair actually.

Jaime: Yes. Yes, it does make me feel better. ☺️

Yuki: Haha. You’re funny. Why don’t you go out?

Jaime: I dunno. I don’t feel like it, I guess.

Yuki: Tsk tsk. Then you can’t feel sad if not going out was a decision you actually chose to make.

Jaime: I guess I haven’t met anyone interesting?

Yuki: Well, hell, Jaime. I never realized I ruined other people for you. I’m that perfect, huh?

Jaime: You really are.

Yuki: Stop! I was joking. Oh, I know! Where are you right now?

Jaime: At home. Why? You dropping by?

Yuki: I’ll do one even better. You still live at the same place?

Jaime: Yes. Tell me what you have in mind.

Yuki: There! I got ice cream to be delivered to your place. That’s still your favorite picker-upper, right? If there’s anything else you want, lemme know. I’ll have it delivered to your condo.

Jaime: Haha. I will never get tired of ice cream. But I would have cheered up faster if you would have come over, even without the ice cream.
