We're Not Over Yet

JAIME HERRERA Jaime: *Image attached* Yuki: A floor plan? Jaime: Remember that lot Dad gave me when I graduated from uni? The one in Antipolo? I’m thinking of having a small house built on it. What do you think? Yuki: I remember. Must be nice to be loaded. One can only wish we were all Jaime Herrera. Jaime: Haha. How about you become Mrs. Yuki Herrera? Yuki: WHAT? Jaime: Anyway… my parents are loaded but yeah, you’re not gonna hear me complain about it. I was lucky to grow up with parents that can afford to raise me well. So? What do you think of the plan? Yuki: The floor plan or the plan of building a house? Jaime: Both? Yuki: Hmmm… you did this? Jaime: I did! Yuki: It looks great, Jaims! I really like what you did with the living room opening straight to the garden. But are you sure you want a small space? You’re only using half of the lot area. Jaime: A wise woman once told me that a big space is just being greedy and when you get older and your body is not like how it used to be, who’s going to clean up that big house? Yuki: LOL. It’s true though! What are you gonna need all that space for? Unless you don’t like the people you live with, right? Jaime: I’m definitely not planning on living with someone I don’t like. Yuki: And it’s pretty cool what you did with the kitchen! Love that it opens up into the dining and living areas. Jaime: Yeah, I like that part too. Hopefully, I end up with a person that likes to cook. You like to cook. Yuki: And these folding patio doors that open into the garden? Super neat! Like even if you live in a smaller space, you don’t feel so boxed in. And it feels like you somewhat live outdoors. You get what I mean? Jaime: I remember you said something like that years ago and it stuck to me. So I added that element in when I was designing the space. Yuki: Hahaha! You remembered a lot of the stuff we used to talk about before. What are you gonna do if you end up with someone who likes big houses and doesn’t like to cook and hates the outdoors? Jaime: Do you not like any of those things anymore? Yuki: Why are you asking me? Jaime: Cause I kept thinking about you when I was designing the space. Yuki: Jaime… what are you saying? Jaime: I’m saying exactly that. I tried my best to build a space that includes elements we both like. Yuki: Jaime, I think you’ve been single for too long. You’re starting to sound like you’ve finally lost it. Jaime: What makes you say that? Yuki: I’m your ex. My opinion shouldn’t matter anymore. Maybe you should design a home with your future in mind. Not your past. Wouldn’t it be sad if the person you love in the future finds out that the home you have was planned with someone else? Jaime: But what if I’m already planning it with the person I want to share that home with? Yuki: Jaime. Jaime: Yuki, baby, I know it’s been years since we broke up but I quickly realized long after that it was the wrong thing for us to do. I’ve always wanted to get back together with you but somehow, I always got the timing wrong. Can we try again? Do you think we can give each other another chance? Yuki: What? I think my brain stopped processing. Jaime: I guess what I’m trying to say is… If you’re up for it… Do you wanna have dinner with me tomorrow, Yuki? Please? Yuki: Jaime, for f**k’s sake! You can’t do this kind of thing over text! Jaime: So I guess that’s a no? It’s ok. I understand if you’re not up for it. I just wanted to shoot my shot. I’m tired of thinking of what-might-have-been and wanted to do something about it. Yuki: I didn’t say no, did I? I end work at 6. Pick me up in the office, ok?
