The stair-shaped black gondola left the gloom of its crammed railroads, reaching the next section, a place illuminated in orange and red lights coming from the arched beams above. The vehicle lost velocity as a hexagonal gate blocked the way ahead, its red lights staring at them like Aleos’ arachnid eyes. Beamed stairs were at both left and right, ascending more than 30 meters above in cramped walls full of hexagonal bays and complex writing characters. A doorless hexagon was at the middle of its top, where red and lilac light faintly illuminated inside. Some kind of control room, perhaps? The place reminded John of some kind of archaic train station, except that there was no human analog for that alien architecture. The gondola stopped before the sealed
