Chapter 11: Confronting the Truth

263 Words
The world felt different as Amelia left Ethan’s office, the revelation about his true nature replaying in her mind like an echo. A werewolf. The concept seemed impossible, a fantasy plucked straight from fiction, yet the raw honesty in Ethan’s eyes told her it was real. Back in her studio, Amelia paced, her thoughts a whirlwind. She had always prided herself on seeing beauty in the unconventional, but this was something else entirely. Could she really accept the truth of what Ethan was? Sophie’s voice brought her back to reality as her friend entered unannounced, carrying takeout bags. “Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” Sophie asked, setting the bags down. Amelia hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. “Ethan... he told me something. Something... unbelievable.” Sophie arched an eyebrow. “Unbelievable how?” After a long pause, Amelia finally said, “He’s not human.” The room fell silent, Sophie’s expression shifting from surprise to cautious concern. “Amelia, are you okay? What does that even mean?” Amelia shook her head. “It’s hard to explain. He’s... a werewolf.” Sophie stared at her, then laughed nervously. “You’re joking, right?” “I’m not,” Amelia said firmly, meeting her friend’s gaze. Sophie sat down, her expression serious now. “Amelia, this is a lot to process. Are you sure you’re safe?” Amelia nodded slowly, though doubt lingered in her heart. Despite her fears, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to Ethan’s story—and to her own feelings for him.
