THE STALKER

A NICE RIDE

" Pip! Pip! Pip!"

I heard the sound of the horn before I even saw the car,that was how close our apartment were from each other. I quickly wave my hands,to indicate to him that I was already standing in front of my house; I couldn't sleep well last night so I woke up early and to my earliest surprise,I have been waiting for him here since five am in the morning.

" Hey! Good morning." I greeted immediately I entered the car,I quickly fasten my seatbelt before been told to.

" Morning! You couldn't sleep well last night?"

He asked as if reading through my face, he's so mysterious; I wonder how he does that,both last night and this morning.

" Yes flashes of last night incident wasn't helping at all." I responded, forcing out a tiny chuckle.

" So you await me?"

" I thought you were going to be late,I could have walk straight to your door and pull it down."

I said and the both of us laughed out at our silly joke.

" Your bruise seems to be less visible now." He stated, referring to the bruise on my face and the swollen cheek.

I replied with a cute smirk,the swollen cheek when down miraculous and the bruise on my lower lips looks better; cos now I can smile better.

" Sorry about last night, you will feel better today trust me."

He said without looking at me,his gaze was so fixed on the road.

" I really hope so." I said sighing a bit. " Probably some music will help." I said with a small chuckle as I reach for the car stereo and tune it on.

" Bad habits by Ed Sheeran,not a bad choice to start the day. But am really not a fan of music,trust me,this is the first time I ever turn on the stereo."

" Wow! Are you for real right now?" I asked with a surprise look on my face,and he nods as a response.

" Not even the news?"

" Nope."

" Wo! You are really some boring guy." I said, laughing out deeply.

" I have the papers delivered to my office every morning,am current so why bother hearing it?And am a boring guy, I know."

He said, tapping on the sterling softly; he always looks tough,I never knew he could be fun to know and talk to; with him I feel like am flying.

" I mean, every normal guy likes music, even I like music the most when having sex."

" Oh!!" He said awkwardly,he couldn't look at me like earlier,he shifted all his focus on the road; even he moved uncomfortably.

Then I realized what I spill out, I instantly cover my mouth with my hands; damn me! Screw me!

Why would I utter such words to him?!

I thought, lowering my head softly; I place my hands on my forehead, avoiding to talk. I feel like the most embarrassed person on earth right now.

" Am sorry about that." I muttered lowly,it would even be better if he didn't hear me.

"It okay....... Your taste is.... Ehen..... Cool." He said, coughing and stammering at the same time.

' Oh my God!'

I mutter under my breathe, covering my face with my hands; I feel hot right now,how I wish the door could fly open, I will run outside without a second thought.

A brief moment of silence came up after his last words,I feel hot despite the cool breeze coming out of the air conditioner; I started starling around when everywhere felt awkward. Even the silent hour is awkward for the both of us and we knew it but no body knew what to talk about anymore,then my eyes caught something hanging at the back seat; then I decided to start a new topic.

" Are you a doctor?" I asked, starling at the lab coat hung at the back seat.

" Yes. Am a pediatrician,I studies pediatrics."

" You treats children?" I asked again and he nods,he does more of nodding than talking.

" You must love kids then?"

" When I was young,I had a kid sister; she has paroxysm. We needed a pediatrician to take care of her but there was no one available,as a result of that she died that was when I made up my mind to be a pediatrician; I would never let any kid die under my watch again."

He said resentful,I could sense him sniffing his nose; he must have been badly hurt by that incident but held it in all this year's. Seeing him like this made me imagine how hurt he must have felt then,my chest felt tight; have began to worry about him without my knowledge.

" Don't give me that look please." He said, turning his gaze at me.

" How old was she when it happened?"

" She was six and I was eleven then, there was nothing I could do to bring her back." His voice cracking as he speaks.

" But at least now, you save more kids lives; am sure she would be happy with you."

I softly tap him on the shoulders,I knew that was all I could do for now; if I don't want to lose my self-restraint.

" Thanks." He said as he stops in front of my working place.

" See you after work then,by what time?" He asked after assisting me to loose the seatbelt.

" How did you know where I work? I never told you." I asked confusedly, pointing at my working place.

He slowly raised his head and look at me in the eyes,his lips slowly bend into a curved smirk.

" Anna,she told me and besides my clinic is not far from here." He said,his lips paused into a thin line; after I heard his words I felt relieve instantly.

I only panicked because that would only make him the stalker.

" I don't know how to thank you mark."I said as I get down from the car.

" Just say thanks for the nice ride and the time you close from work."

" Thanks for the nice ride and I close by seven pm." I said blushing slightly and he nods again before zooming off.
