No one was in the apartment last night. When I got here, I remembered that Kevin was inviting me to his mother's birthday. Until now, as I prepared myself for school, I was thinking of alibis about why I didn't turn up last night. I felt guilty because I knew they waited for me in vain.
I was currently eating breakfast but was interrupted when I could hear someone knocking on the door. That must be Kevin and the others. I suddenly felt anxious.
"Come in," I said hoarsely. However, the door remained shut and I wondered why they didn't come in yet.
