“How much is it? Alas, I never thought Vilma could be this nasty,” said grandma, who seemed to have lost all the enthusiasm she had earlier. “I thought they already paid for this event.”
“About 800 thousand, ma’am,” said the hotel staff. “We’re baffled by Mrs. Vilma Pence’s departure, so we decided to inform you about this right away.”
My grandma couldn’t help but quiver. 800 thousand was not a small sum, and judging from my family’s background, it would take about almost all of our properties to be sold out.
