Serena’s pov
“Urghhh….”
I look up from where I’m sitting, giving my attention to my now awakening prisoner.
“Ooh, welcome to the land of the living, not so sure you’re going to be here for long though but glad you’re finally awake”.
“Uhmm…where am I?, oh f**k, Boss why am I…chained up?”. Charles asks as he takes in his surroundings and notices me, he looks like s**t and shocked.
“I think you know that Charles, I think the better question should be why you’ve been stealing from me”.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”. Charles lies and I shake my head moving towards the table of knives to pick which I want to begin with. I need to get this over with quickly and head back to the office, so that means he has to start bleeding.
“Oh come on Charles, you do know and you better start talking cause I don’t have all day”. I muse, returning with a small knife.
“I think he’s forgotten who he’s dealing with”. Eric, my second in command retorts.
I step forward and stand in front of our victim. “Well, let’s remind him”. I tear off the plain black shirt Charles is wearing, making his pale flesh visible, and slices a perfect line down the center of his chest, tearing a scream from his throat. “Do you want to try again?” I ask with my brows raised and the knife poised against his chest.
“Please” Charles grunts in pain. “Please, I really don’t know any…..”
I pick up his pinky finger and starts plucking of his nail bed, tearing off more painful screams from him. “I have somewhere to be Charles, stop wasting my f*****g time!”. “Who are you helping to sabotage my business?.”
“Oh Jesus, fuckkk, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to..” he’s cut off as Eric crashes his fist into his jaw with a sharp crack. I think he broke something. Charles moans, blood and saliva leaking out of his mouth and into the concrete floor of the basement.
“The next time you say a word, make it one I want to hear.” I say, losing more patience.
Annoyance crawls up my skin. Charles Wilson has been in charge of one of my clubs in Manhattan, he has been handling it very well until two months ago, I noticed that the accounts didn’t add up and some shipments coming in are in shortages. Now Charles doesn’t have the caliber to do this on his own, so he has to be working for someone and I need to know who has the audacity to steal from me.
“Eric get me the acid” I turn to him, maybe he’ll talk when his fingers are burned off.
“Oh my god, pleaseee, if it’s about the missing shipments you know I’ve been loyal, you know me. I wouldn’t betray you.” His pathetic begging is really getting on my nerves, but it world be too early to cut out his tongue no matter how much I want to.
“So where did you get the money to keep the loan sharks off your back from your useless gambling addiction?.” I bark at him.
“I paid them back, I was getting some odd jobs done for some out of town people.”
“Lies” I bark again as I cut off his big thumb. “Dip the finger in the acid” I say to Eric.
“No, please no,” he cries and Eric steps back looking at his bloody form with nothing but contempt.
“I mean, you have an option here”. Eric shrugs. “Tell us what we want to hear and I won’t have to do this.” He moves closer, ready to dip his sawed off hand in the bowl of acid.
“I can’t,” he chokes out, “they’ll kill me if I do.”
I laugh out, “and who says you’ll make it out of here alive, you should be more afraid of what I’ll do to you Charles.”
“They’ll kill my family, they’ll kill them if they find out I said anything.”
“Well, since you insisted, I guess I’ll have to find them myself right?!.” I start to walk out, I guess I’ll have to find a new assistant then. “Eric, prepare a drum and dump him in it, I’m done with him and get the clean up crew to take care of this s**t after you’re done”.
I walk out of the basement and head to my office hearing his screams and pleadings. Another wasted day and I’m back to square zero. I’ll find them, I always do.
I’ve been in charge of the families mafia business for about three years and things have been going well. I have clubs in different places. On the surface, the clubs are normal dance clubs that politicians and other high ranking people come to to relieve the days stress and to get any girls of their choice, of course the girls are working here willingly as long as they get their money. I don’t do any kind of shady trafficking business involving humans and children. Underneath all this is where the real business goes on. I have a basement, my office and warehouse for the guns I sell to whoever needs them.
On the outside world, I’m known as the strict CEO and founder of X; my cyber security company. I also get information on some big politicians from there but nobody has to know that right. And now I can’t find the one information I need on who’s trying to sabotage me, I guess I’ll have to play it safe for a couple of weeks and run a security check on all the workers.
The ringing of my phone pulls me from my thoughts. I watch my hands on the sink in the bathroom and remove my bloody blazer. I pull out my phone to see it’s Claire calling; she has been my secretary of X and also one of my closest friends. “Hello, what’s up girl?.”
“I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for a while now, where have you been?.” Claire shouts, clearly angry.
“I’m at the club Claire, what is it?.” f**k, I was supposed to go the office today.
“You’re one hour late boss, did you forget you have an appointment?.”
An appointment? I don’t remember that. I start changing into one of the spare clothes I keep here and head out. “I’m on my way girl, get the person to my office, I’ll be there in 15mins” I tell Claire and hang up.
I dial Eric, as I’m walking out of the club. “Get the car around, we’re leaving.”
I walk out and climb into the car. “To the company please, I’m late for an appointment.”
“On it boss.” Eric says as he fires off.
We get there exactly 15mins later and I hurry into the elevator, going to the top floor. I get off to find Claire waiting for me outside my office. “Who am I meeting?.” I really hope this is important because I’m tired and stressed.
“Antonio Movroski boss.” Claire says.
I stop at the door so suddenly that Claire crashes into me from behind.
There’s no way that’s possible, it can’t be.
