Chapter 15 - Say I Do

2 months later.

No contract. No board. No fake smiles.

Just us.

The venue was small. Beach in Batangas. 50 people only.

My mom was in the front row. Crying. Healthy.

His sister was the flower girl. The one I saved 1 year ago.

She ran to me. "Ate Bella! You look like a princess!"

I laughed. In a white dress. No 2 million peso gown.

Just simple. Just me.

The music started.

Alexander was waiting at the altar.

Navy suit. No tie. Hair still a little messy.

But his eyes... they were only on me.

When I reached him, he took my hand. Squeezed it once.

"Nervous?" he whispered.

"Terrified." I whispered back. "What if you say no?"

"I won't." He smiled. The real one. "Never again."

The priest started. "Do you, Alexander Virel, take Isabella-"

"I do." He cut him off.

Everyone laughed.

"Do you, Isabella Santos, take Alexander-"

"I do." I said quickly. Before I could cry.

"Then by the power vested in me-"

"You may kiss the bride." Alexander finished for him.

And he did.

Not for cameras. Not for the board.

Just because he wanted to.

When we pulled apart, he rested his forehead on mine.

"Mrs. Virel." He whispered. "For real this time."

"Mr. Virel." I whispered back. "You're stuck with me."

"Good."

Reception was loud. Dancing. His sister threw cake at him.

My mom danced with him. He looked awkward. And happy.

At midnight, he pulled me to the beach. Away from everyone.

"Alexander?"

"I sold the penthouse." He said out of nowhere.

"What?"

"Bought us a house. With a garden. For your mom. For... us."

He pulled out a small box. Not a ring. A key.

"House key." He said. "No contract. Just... come home with me?"

I took it. "Only if you promise one thing."

"Anything."

"No more lies."

He nodded. Pulled me into his arms.

"No more lies. No more pretending. No more contracts."

Just us.

And as the waves crashed behind us...

I realized the best deal I ever signed...

was the one I tore up.
