CHAPTER EIGHT
TAKING HER CROWN BACK
Chloe giggles as she follows me with a teasing smirk on her face. Urgh! She could be the devil’s spawn at times.
My expensive black shoes clacked on the shiny floor as I approached the cluster of students. They were blocking the hallway and making it difficult for others to go through.
When I say others, I’m referring to me because everyone is either joining the cluster of students or is already part of them.
“Move” I commanded, but only a few did. The others pretended not to have heard me.
I wouldn’t lie, it hurt my ego because they would do so at first once they saw me coming and I had gotten pretty used to that treatment. I keep my composure as I walk straight towards them. If they thought I would use another route because they were blocking the path, then they were delusional. I would rather walk all over them.
Chloe touched me lightly, slightly conveying that she was there with me and that if I wanted her to battle it out for me, she would.
And I knew she would without a doubt or hesitation. I love you Chloe and I appreciate the gesture, but this is my fight and I was going to do this myself. People part at the last second before I walk into them.
“Beans b***h” I heard a girl whisper to her friends as I hit her with my shoulders, and giggles tore around her. Some had the decency to cover it with a cough. Or maybe they just knew better and were not willing for me to unleash my pent up anger on them.
“What did you say?” I paused and asked sweetly, turning in the direction of the comment.
The girl must have got enough validation from the reaction to her stupid comment, so she owned up and repeated it looking at the others with a smug smile. She was really pretty with blue eyes and healthy ginger hair. She was also taller and had a slim and great figure. Her face was done perfectly in natural makeup, her uniform hugged her tightly. I hated her already.
“I said, Beans b***h, your lips are looking too bright with that lipgloss. All that make up cannot hide your ugly personality.”
Did I have it coming ?
Oh yeah I did. Totally
Was it the truth?
Yes, the absolute truth. Except for the all that make-up part. It hid it very well. Was it ironical that I was only wearing concealer and gloss ?
Was I going to defend and explain myself or deny it at least?
Of course not. Definitely not.
“At least, my lips are looking brighter than your future. Did you wake up today wishing you were me ? Or you woke up wishing I’d give you an iota of my attention?” I ask, my voice still dripping with sweetness. as I move towards her and she takes steps back.
Jealous bitch
The crowd watch in fascination as they gobble it all up.
“ Well, you have my attention now. I imagine how much of this is a dream come true for you…”
I thrust my hand forward and yanked her name badge from her dress, pin and all, tearing the material in the process.
“Dana L’acrux. I swear your surname rings a bell, you know ?” I continued in my sickly sweet voice. I could be an absolute monster when needed.
“Oh, I remember. The L’acruxes sent my parents an email. They said they had a daughter who could be the spokesperson for our new make-up brush line, but they surely couldn’t have meant you. Right ?” I scrunch my nose and her eyes widen at the realization that I was about to ruin her and I actually have the power to.
“Are you calling me ugly?” She lifts her chin to look at me with contempt. She was challenging me knowing she was very pretty and I would only make a fool of myself.
I’d seen her face on a few products. She was starting in the model industry and had already bagged a few contracts with top companies.
“Dad has not yet replied to it. I should warn him before he wastes his time meeting them.” I continued, as if in deep thought ignoring her.
She gives me a dirty look and tries to snatch the badge from me, but I slap her in the face with it. I make sure the pin digs deep into her skin and draws blood. She falls into the locker as she grabs her face in shock and slides down.
“Why would you attack me like that ?” I asked her as I crouched before her and held her hands as if I was comforting her.
“You forced me to defend myself ” I said.
“ You…how could..but .. you” She stammered as tears dropped from her eyes and blood seeped beneath the palm holding her cheek.
I grabbed her hair and forced her to look up at me.
“You’d write me an apology for your mistake. Won’t you? Or else I don’t know how far my lawyers might suggest we take this.” I sighed like it was such a pain to do this to her before I let go of her hair. It hit the locker with a loud bang and made the others jump. I use my hand to tame her wild red hair down for her nicely. In fact, I did it like a doting friend and re-pinned her badge.
I stepped back and made sure I stomped on her acrylic nails in the process and she grounded her teeth in pain.
“Does anyone feel like making a comment again?” I asked the crowd sweetly and there was no response. Just awe and envy and fear.
Good.
I looked at everyone more closely and they all dared not to look me in the eye. The basketball boys watch me with a smirk. Maybe they were secretly routing for me. I smiled back at them but it dropped when I met Kieran’s eyes. He looked disgusted with me and I flipped my hair and turned my back on him as I headed towards the gym for cheer practise.
I hated that a little part of me still cared about his opinion of me.
“And I thought I was the meaner girl. You totally ate her ass up. She won’t dare talk s**t again.” Chloe gushed as soon as we were out of ear shot and I laughed.
I suppress the inner part of me that said I’d gone too far by cutting up her face and threatening her career. Her face was her pot of gold and that would definitely leave a scar.
I was just feeling a little bad about it because of Kieran.
The storage room to my left opens and I’m dragged inside by the waist. I gasp as a strong body presses me into the wall, cutting off Chloe’s shrieks.
The room is dark and I can’t seem to make out the person. The light switches on and I find Andrew Marin staring down at me with a gleam in his eyes.
“You really are a total bad ass under the preppy front, Captain Waters.” He says in his smooth panty-dropping voice , his handsome face mere inches away from mine.
