The lake house was outside Potogi, a little town about four hours away from Taupe City. The town had about 3,300 residents, most of them retirees, some of whom had grown up in the area. It was a friendly little town where people still waved at strangers passing by on the highway and most kept their doors unlocked at night. Riley only hoped that whatever evil was coming for him wouldn’t spill out onto the small town. As he maneuvered down the one-lane gravel road leading up to the clearing where the lake house stood, he couldn’t help but notice how strange Jonathan seemed to be acting.
