Jason pulled into the parking lot of the outdoor sporting goods store of the tiny town. Although time was of the essence, he didn’t want to hurry into what awaited him. He was outclassed on every level when it came to fighting, and knew a bad outcome would take him straight back to Hell. He had to avoid that for as long as possible. The only advantage he had was the element of surprise, but even that went out the window when he really thought about it. The fallen’s one job was to protect and defend his human. Nothing else. Jason knew he’d be waiting for him. Putting the stolen car in park, Jason climbed out and stretched his legs and back. The drive had been a long one, and so far the only thing he had going for him was his sense of smell. He had followed it from the city all the way out
