Chapter 12Sean’s jaw tensed as he leapt to the wall, hooking his arms along its top edge and letting the rest of his body swing to it. He dangled for a moment before falling to the uneven ground below. He stumbled but managed to keep upright. He hurried through shrubs and limbs and then charged up the stairs to the house. “Stay back!” he heard Linda warn someone. “Grandma!” Nicola shouted. Air was spewing from Sean’s mouth by the time he reached the last step. He gasped at the outrageous sight of a stocky man bedecked in a curly neon green wig wearing a loud, colorful clown outfit.
