Chapter 6The man was inconsolable, his loud sobbing echoing in the mostly empty waiting room. His wails were like those of a lonely basset hound. His face was planted in his trembling hands, his hair a disheveled mess. Sean could do little more than cringe at the pathetic display and hope that the receptionist who’d walked over to comfort the man would find whatever magic words were required to bring the scene to a close. Instead, the man slid out of his chair and onto his knees on the linoleum floor, wrapping his arms around the receptionist’s legs and hugging them for support.
