Chapter 14Albano must have talked to the Kents after I’d left, Sean told himself. It was a simple explanation for how the old man had known of his relationship to the deceased. Still, the arrogance with which he’d spoken the words seemed to suggest that there was something more to it—as if the knowledge had been presented as a message of omniscience. It didn’t sit well with Sean, and on his way back up the coast, he spent his idle time at red lights angrily stripping balloon animals from the dashboard and windshield and tossing them onto the backseat.
