Chapter 30Until Sean heard his name echoing down the hallway, he hadn’t known who Albano was conversing with at the front door. Somehow Quammen had found his way there. Somehow he suspected Sean was inside and in trouble. But suspicions were clearly all Quammen had, otherwise the police chief would have entered the home by now. Blake stared at Sean, pointing his gun at his forehead with one hand while holding a finger to his mouth with the other. His piercing blue eyes refused to blink. Sean held his stare, unflinching. Edward and Jack were in a similar pose. The only one not trapped between crosshairs was the Goddess. She was still cowering on the floor beside Sean’s feet. Her hair, frazzled after its rough treatment, covered most of her face, though Sean could see dark triangles below
