Third person's POV
Ruby has been trying so hard to ignore her boss for the past few days. The shame and embarrassment has been too much for her to handle so she has been trying so hard to communicate to him over the phone than in person.
It has been going so well for her up until now when Gina, the receptionist walks up to Ruby's desk.
"Hi Ruby." Gina says with a warm smile plastered on her face.
"Gina, hi. Is there something you need?" Ruby asks with her eyes plastered on the papers littered in front of her desk. She rubs her temple and tries to access the information on the piece of papers.
"Actually I am not the one in need of your help. Mr Aiden requests for your presence at his office." Gina says fiddling with her palms anxiously. Ruby raises her head up swiftly at the mention of her boss' name. She glares at Gina with wide eyes.
"Why? Just tell him I am busy." Ruby says nonchalantly. Gina clears her throat and it causes Ruby to eye her suspiciously.
"Is there anything else you have in mind to say Gina?" Ruby snaps at her.
"Actually Ruby, I have been telling Mr Aiden that for the past few days and he is starting to get sick of my excuses. Did you and Mr Aiden get into a fight?" Gina asks with her tone laced in concern.
"No no no. Why would you think that?" Ruby asks in a haste. she runs a hand through her red hair and her heart races fast as she comes to a realization that it is impossible for her to keep avoiding her boss forever.
"You should probably go see him. He might get frustrated if I make such excuse again and you know how Mr Aiden gets. I am sorry Ruby but I think you should go see him." Gina says.
Ruby releases a heavy sigh and nods her head slowly.
"Alright, I will. Thank you Gina." Ruby says. Gina nods her head and slowly walks away from Ruby.
Ruby rises to her feet, she adjusts the papers littered on her desk and slowly walks away from her desk. Ruby takes the elevator for the fifth floor where Aiden's office is situated. The elevator door dings open and Ruby steps out. She makes her way towards the first door on the left and freezes right in front of it.
Ruby gulps a lump down her throat and her palms become sweaty in fear. She wonders whether to just barge in or to knock the door. Ruby settles on the latter choice. She delivers a knock on the door and the door opens wide on the second knock revealing Aiden Flare leaning on the door with his arms crossed. The first two buttons of his shirt is open and his hair looks messy. His hot look reminds Ruby of that night and how she had seen his bare chest.
Ruby bites her lower lip and bends her head low in embarrassment at how she had moaned to his name the night they had s*x.
Aiden clears his throat and pulls her by the wrist into his office. He shuts the door behind them and loosens his grip on her wrist.
"Sir, you called for me." Ruby manages to say, although it comes out as a mere whisper.
"You have been avoiding me. You even ignored my calls that morning." Aiden says in a serious tone and a stern look plastered on his face.
Ruby recalls the morning after she ran away from the hotel. She remembers him calling her phone while she was explaining everything that transpired between the both of them to her best friend.
"I...." Ruby stutters with no idea of what to say.
"Why? We had s*x and so what?" Aiden blurts out raising a brow at Rudy. She raises her head up and glares at him in surprise. Ruby wonders how he can be so straightforward and relaxed about everything that happened while she had been beating herself up for it for the past few days.
"So what?" Ruby questions staring at Aiden in disbelief.
"Yeah, you heard me right. We had s*x and so what? Ruby Daniels, you are not the first to have s*x with me and you will not be the last." Aiden says nonchalantly.
Ruby grips the wall for support, she looks stunned at Aiden's nonchalance. She watches him take a few steps in front of her and suddenly freeze in his steps when his face is just a few inches away from hers. The memory of that night comes back to her head and she can not fight or resist the memory.
"That's right but what will everyone around us think? Huh? What will they see us as?" Ruby asks in a shaky tone with tears rolling down her cheeks. Aiden scoffs and shakes his head at her.
"Quit the childish act Ruby. It was clearly a mistake and who says everyone around us have to know happened between us? It was an obvious mistake, I was drunk and that was it." Aiden says in a questioning tone.
Ruby's entire body shakes in fear and she feels a pang of hurt hit her when Aiden mentions that it was a mistake.
"Have I made myself clear to you Ruby Daniels?" Aiden asks raising a brow at her. She nods her head slowly and bites her lower lip to hold back the tears that threaten to fall from her eyes.
"Yes Sir, you have." Ruby says in a low tone. Aiden nods his head satisfied by her reply. He takes a few steps away from her and clears his throat.
"Now, I need you to act like my actual secretary instead of making stupid excuses." Aiden says through gritted teeth. Ruby nods her head frankly, she slowly begins to walk out of Aiden's office and she can feel his pair of eyes burning right through her.
