Chapter Five

Third person's POV

Rita rubs Ruby's shoulder and tries to stop Ruby from crying but all to no avail. Ruby cries even harder as she slowly recalls the doctor's words. A child is in her and it scares her.

"Where do I start from Rita? What do I do? My whole life is literally a mess right now." Ruby says amidst her crying. She runs a hand through her red hair and cries even harder.

"Calm down Ruby. Crying is not going to bring a solution to the problem we have at hand." Rita says patting Ruby's back.

"At least, you know the father of the child so I do not think you should be worried about anything. Aiden is the father right?" Rita asks. Ruby nods her head and looks up to glare at Rita.

"What do I do then Rita? Aiden is the father but he made it clear to me that whatever transpired between us that night was a clear mistake." Ruby says with her heart racing fast as she recalls Aiden's words. His voice rings out loud in her ears and it causes Ruby to shake in fear.

"So what Ruby? He made the clear mistake when he forced you to have s*x with him. You should be able to stand up for yourself or does he expect you to raise the child all by yourself?" Rita snaps at Ruby with a scowl on her face. She slaps Ruby by the shoulder and rises to her feet.

"You need to stop acting pathetic Ruby. Talk to him, tell him about the child and if he dares to deny it, threaten him that you will reveal his secret to the whole world." Rita says with a serious look on her face, she helps Ruby up and pulls her friend into a tight embrace.

"Everything is going to be okay Ruby. You are not alone in this, I need you to know that, okay?" Rita whispers into Ruby's ears softly and rubs her back gently.

Ruby cries in Rita's shoulder but feels a bit reassured by Rita's words. She releases a heavy sigh and allows Rita's soothing words to dwell in her and remind her that she is not alone in this mess that she has gotten herself into. She has Rita and Rita has promised her that she will not be fighting this battle alone.

The next morning, Ruby leaves for work, she assures Rita that there is no need for to tag alone. Rita is reluctant about the idea of leaving Ruby all alone to confront Aiden because of how timid Ruby can get but Ruby is able to convince her that everything will go well and if it does not go as planned, she promised to give Rita a call.

Ruby arrives at work with her heart racing extremely fast as she makes her way to Aiden's office. She is greeted by a few of her colleagues on the way which relieves her a bit because she knows that if eventually Aiden tries to deny the pregnancy and she is left with no option than to reveal his secret, a few of her colleagues would believe her although Ruby silently prays inside of her that Aiden cooperates and it does not result into her having to tell the whole world about their unprotected s*x. Ruby makes her way towards the office. She freezes right in front of the door and her heart races fast as her anxiety kicks back in. Ruby tucks a strand of her hair behind her ears and delivers a small knock on the door.

"I am busy! Come back later!" Aiden yells nonchalantly.

Ruby ignores him and pushes the door wide open, she barges into his office and shuts the door behind her.

"I said I am busy, did you not hear that Mrs Ruby Daniels?" Aiden snaps at her with his phone pressed close to his ears. He pauses to speak to the person on the phone "Mum, not you. I was talking to my rude secretary who just barged into my office."

"We need to talk." Ruby gulps a lump down her throat and manages to say with a serious look on her face. Aiden scoffs and raises a brow at her.

"Are you deaf Ruby? I said I am busy now get out." Aiden snaps at her.

Ruby wants to walk out of the office but she is suddenly reminded of Rita's words about standing her ground and not feeling intimidated by him.

"It is about what happened the other night between us." Ruby deadpans. Aiden's face immediately scrunches into confusion "I will call you back mum." He says into the phone but he does not take his eyes off her, not even for a second. He hangs up and tosses his phone carelessly on the desk.

"I thought we both agreed not to ever speak about that night Ruby Daniels so what the hell are you talking about right now?" Aiden yells at her. He rises to his feet and rubs his temple.

"You want to talk? Fine Ruby Daniels. Let us f*****g talk." Aiden says through gritted teeth. Ruby is startled by his outburst but she tries her best to remain composed as Rita's voice keeps ringing loud in her ears.

She reaches for her purse and fetches an envelope out of it. She tosses the envelope on the desk and her body remains frozen. Aiden glares at the envelope and eyes her from head to toe. He eyes the envelope back in disdain as his hands reach for it.

He grabs it and rips it open bringing out a neat white paper. He reads the content of the paper with a frown plastered on his face.

"What the f**k is this Ruby Daniels?" He snaps at her ripping the paper into shreds. It startles Ruby for a brief moment at his aggressive action but she does not falter.

"Read it well Mr Aiden." Ruby snaps at him.

"I am pregnant and the child is yours!"
