The Meet

Walking into my reservation in the resort of Balearic Islands was really amazing, everything here is splendid, it seemed like this was the best time of the year to be here. This was my nice but how was I supposed to have fun all by myself when I can't even get pass this hurt. I can't help the little stab in my chest at the thought of my ex. Dean was the quarter back of the football team and one of the hottest guys on campus. I remembered how we met after an incident in the cafe where I worked on campus and how he frequently visited our cafe and would always order and stay around a bit longer than he did before and his friendlier manner to me. I wasn't completely immune to his good looks but I couldn't bring myself to be near him. It wasn't long before he asked me out then, but I turned him down, not because I didn't like him then, but I was still riling and living with with some traumatic experience from an almost s****l assault in my life then, thank God for Eva. Eva had been my support system all throughout school even now and being here without her isn't fun, maybe this trip was a bad idea after all. I miss her so much, with her ever bubbly presence. I feel a bit out of place here but she has that exhibition in LA and Vegas this week, her work is among the displays and she has worked so hard for it. I couldn't possibly have her here, I'm always rooting for her. This was way tougher than I had imagined but since I was here I might as well enjoy the view. There was a blonde surfer eyeing me from the beach. He smiled lazily at me "want to watch me while I surf and you know, we could also have fun while at it," he winked at me. Okay, that was just awful but wasn't that what I wanted, to get laid no attachments. "Nah, I'm good." Spotting a cruise ship, I decided to hop on it and see were it leads, maybe to my doom. I think getting on board was a mistake because they all looked like elite, Socialites and models in here, definitely not my scene. The cruise ship was open to all tourists in our reservation, looking around it seemed like a celebration was on going. "Excuse me, but what's this party about," I asked the gorgeous blonde lady in blue designer blazers beside me to get better information. She eyed me suspiciously, "This is an after party to celebrate the Voss-Delaroz investment, are you among the models or are you with the staff." Okay, now that was just degrading, I guess this part of the ship was just for snobbish people. "You..."before I could speak a stylish looking man came and whispered something to her, which had her scurrying away. Okay, that was weird. Now all that was left was for me to try and enjoy the ride. Taking a glass of champagne from the table, I downed the smooth liquid. The sea was calm and I just stood at the edge of the deck, my fingers curling lightly around the railing as the cruise ship kept sailing the waters. It was still morning and I still felt out of place in here. This was supposed to be an adventurous vacation for me yet this didn't feel like one. I decided to take in the beauty of being on this ship while downing another glass of champagne I got from one of the waiters. Everything about the view was beautiful, the soft wind, the music, the view of all the resorts from here and yet it didn't really seem to do justice to how I felt inside. With a sigh I decided to head back inside. "Fresh start," I murmured. As I turned to head back toward the main deck, I noticed a corridor by the side, with dim light, which was more quiet than the rest of the ship. "Perfect" I said to myself. I slipped in without thinking much, I paused at the sound of metals shifting, someone was here. He was crouched a few feet ahead, focused on a panel in the wall. His sleeves were rolled up, dark shirt and a wrench in hand. He definitely wasn't a guest. For a moment, I considered turning back but then he spoke up without turning back. "I don't think guests are supposed to be here" his voice was husky but calm with a hint of an accent to it. I leaned lightly against the wall instead of leaving. "Funny," I replied "I was just thinking the same about you." I probably should just mind my own business. He turned to look at me, and I drew a little air in. I was not some boy crazy girl but this man here was captivating. His black shirt was slightly undone at the collar and his sleeves rolled up. He definitely didn't look like someone who fixed things for a living. Sharp jawlines, high cheekbones, piercing blue eyes and a light stubble. But he looked away just as quickly as he had turned back. "I have work here," he said simply. I raised a brow slightly even though he couldn't see it. "Do you?" He didn't say anything but I wasn't about to just leave like that. "So what are you fixing?" "Something that wasn't broken until someone decided to look at it." Then, there was just silence. "Don't you have somewhere else to be?" he exhaled exhaustedly after a moment. "Probably," I said "But everywhere else looks the same." "And this doesn't" his voice booming. "No, I think I'll rather be in here than up there." I utter lightly. This time he stood up and turned completely toward me, he easily towered over me. Staring intently at me, tilting his head to the side a bit like he was trying to study me or intimidate me. "Do you always wander into restricted areas?" he quizzed. I shrugged lightly. "Only when I'm trying not to think." "About what?" he inquired again, his voice low, he was stalking dangerously closer to me now, I took several steps back hitting the wall. His manly scent was assaulting my nose, we were just inches apart, looking up into his blue eyes, I think my stomach did a little somersault. I hesitated but just for a second, then I shook my head. "Nothing that matters." His gaze lingered on my face, then on my lips for a while, maybe trying to read me or something else but he didn't push further, Instead he stepped back. "You should go," he said softly. "Are you always this welcoming?" I say sardonically. A flicker of something crossed his face, amusement maybe. "Only when I mean it." a knowing smile on his face. I smiled slightly at that. Then pushed off the wall but instead of leaving immediately, I stalked towards him accidentally tripping over one of his tools but he caught me before I could hit the ground, his hand snakes around my waist while the other hand caught my wrist, steading me but he didn't let go immediately. "what's your name?" I quizzed. He paused for a while before replying. "Damian" "Cassie" I replied, receding after a while. "Try not to break anything else Damian." "You first" Suddenly there were voices coming from outside the door. "Damian" the female voice called out. "I don't think he's here, let's just go" a male voice shot back. "Are you hiding fr..." before I could finish he moved swiftly to my side and covered my mouth with his hands. His manly scent assaulting my nose again, he was too close for me to think properly. "Shhh" he whispered placing his index fingers on his lips signaling me to keep quiet then takes my hand hurriedly leading me away through a back door.
