CHAPTER 7: MCCULLIAN

We were out hunting her. Her family may have founded this town, but I own it now, and no one, not even that broad is going to take that away from me. Me and my boys were in the woods, scouring every inch, some of the townspeople started preparing for the burning. Idiots think witches are real, and they didn’t even question me. I just need her out of the way. I can’t have some black girl poking into my business affairs. I already have my patrons worrying, and a scandal about some witches isn’t going to help the situation. It’s been a few hours and we still haven’t found her. The little twit knows how to hide. “Father, father, I think I heard something near the old shed. Do you want me to check it?” “No, I’ll do it. Gather the townspeople. We’re burning a witch tonight Mikey.”     As I headed towards the old work shed, I heard some rustling of fallen leaves. I approached with caution, I didn’t know if she had any weapons and I’m not taking any chances.      I saw her. I started to walk slower but I stepped on a branch and she heard me. Dang it. She started running towards the Southeast direction, and I knew if she got onto Shelby's property I wouldn’t be able to touch her. I start running faster, gaining on her. She tripped and fell, stupid broad. When I reached her she had fear in her eyes. It made me smile. I saw her trembling as I brought the butt of the gun to her head, knocking her out.
