Chapter 20 I’m not sure who Uncle Charlie talked to, or what he said, but by four-o'clock that afternoon I already had two phone calls from friends wanting to find out if Peter and I were truly dating. The gossip mill had worked overtime today, and I applauded Uncle Charlie's decision. By the time I took the third call, I could tell things were in motion. The last call came from Detective Byrd, asking if I remembered anything about the three suspects we had discussed. The little seeds of information my uncle had dropped on the detective’s desk were working. Later, getting ready, I found myself feeling nervous, as if this was a real first date. Excited too. Excited with the hope that something might come of it, and nervous the opposite effect might happen, and make our friendship awkward.
