(April’s POV)
Jessie was starting to panic again and one quick listen to her thoughts told me why. So I spoke to her calmly through our private mind-link, “Jessie, it’s okay. She’s fine. You didn’t kill anyone. She’s just unconscious. That’s all. Just breathe, Jessie.”
I noticed her starting to calm down, and relaxed a little myself, then brought Mason into the private link with us. “She’s a little upset, Mace. She thought she'd killed Maven. I thought you’d like to talk to her privately, so I’m going to leave you two alone now. When you’re through, just let me know and I'll break the link for you.”
“Thanks, April.” Mason said, and I just gave him a smile before bowing out of the link and leaving them alone. Kraig was still counting down to ten, so none of us could go to Jessie yet. I
