(April’s POV) I was still trying to shake off the fear I felt as I stood to my full height again. I didn’t want the gang to see me looking so frail and pathetic. It wouldn’t be good for morale. Besides, I can’t have these vamps thinking I’m the weakest link here. They make a move on me and death will rain down on them like a hurricane drops water. Not me, ‘Hericane’, an actual weather event. After the vamps made that comment about Jake sounding like a demon, I realized they were clear-minded because one, their eyes weren’t fogged over, and two, their thoughts were more clear. I’d noticed with the wolves that their thoughts showed their confusion. They also showed their fear. They had no idea what was happening. No idea at all. But these vamps seem to know what they’re doing right now
