Ever since finding out my daughter is the Master of Magic five years ago, I’ve lived with a sense of dread hanging over me. The witches' council is sort of like the Wolves Council of Elders in that they watch everything that goes on in our world.
They don’t exactly know everything that happens, so they can be gotten around sometimes. But they do know a great deal. They use their magic to see things they ought not be looking at. Many is the witch who was caught by them defying our laws. Or so they say. Their word is final, and they never show proof of their findings.
They’ve been trying to figure out how Cassy is so powerful. They want what she has.
