As he reached each landing, he noticed in a quick reconnaissance a maze of corridors hived through the floors, the labyrinth making it harder for anyone still following to track him down. At the fourth floor landing, he made his way down an ill lit hallway, past several opaque windows, studded on the outside panes with dead moths. Next a left past the WC and past that water closet a shower room and at the end of the corridor a red EXIT sign lit up, he noticed as he at last found his room. Lengthwise, the room, such as it was, measured somewhat longer than the stretch of the narrow cot-like bed against the right wall.
