Chapter Ten

Debby's POV

I wondered who would play April fool's joke at this time of the year . I guess it was wrongly delivered. I put the box inside themselves with plans to return it back to where I found it maybe the owner would pick it up there.

As I was about to go and have my bath, I heard a knock on my door and upon opening it , I saw Terry with a worried looking face and then he said " Dad was murdered, he was poisoned to death". I stared in shock as I was speechless as to what this mystery meant.

Unknown's POV

"Was it delivered successfully"? , yes it was. Good boy. I sat down and began to imagine how the next level would go, I couldn't wait to see the shock on their faces, anyone who can't play, gets played.

Erica's POV

I opened my door to see Fred standing there looking at me. We stared at each other for some time until he broke the silence by asking if I wasn't going to invite him inside.

I let him in and began to wonder why I did that. I wondered why he was here and couldn't wait for him to leave as he always spelt trouble.

He told me how they expected me at the last meeting but since I never showed up the boss asked him to check up on me . I decided to go straight to the point . I told him I had decided to stay clean and clear of crime and so boss shouldn't be expecting to see me anytime soon.

He stared at me for some time before asking if I was joking to which I replied in the negative. He asked how I planned to survive and I told him how I was about going to get a job. He looked at me, laughed and then made to leave, on getting to the door, he turned back and then said " remember, we never forced you to join us, we hate black rats" after saying this, he walked away.

I wondered what he meant by that but anyways I was finally free, I thought to myself, it was time to start life afresh. I dressed up and decided that I would get something to eat on my way to nowhere in particular. If only I knew what life had in store for me...
