Since no one knew that her parents were dead and buried,Karla decided that she and Hunter should go out to all their favourite places in town just to throw people off their trail. They spent the rest of the day together going from spot to spot with Hunter occasionally checking to see if Karla is fine mentally and physically. Later that night Hunter sent her home and Karla acted shocked that their house had been broken into and was a mess she even called the police sobbing and barley able to speak. Once they got there the police took their statements which they had already went over earlier at one of their earlier at one of their favourite places and the police started gathering evidence from the house Her grandmother was called to come live with Karla in the meantime while the police looked for their parents or their bodies. She wasn't happy about the arrangement because she and her grandmother did not get along to say the least. Karla once said her grandmother burnt her hair with a straightener because hers was longer than her cousins and that her cousin's were jealous. Her grandmother immediately started barking orders at her the minute Hunter and the police left. Later that night she was talking to Hunter, when her grandmother,Martha barged and into her room and started calling her names for talking to a boy saying Hunter was going to leave her pregnant, And like her mother she's going to pin it on someone inocent like her son. Karla was so livid that she turned and said to her grandmother"Like your son could get anyone pregnant he's infertile anyway ,she was doing him a favour." Martha stormed out of her room and a few minutes later came back with a belt and started beating Karla mercilessly for a couple of minutes while Hunter was on the call listening to his girlfriend crying her lungs out in pain and discomfort. The next morning Martha took Karla's breakfast and said" This was bought and paid for by my son , you don't deserve to eat it now get to school." Karla got her bag and was almost at the door when the door handle turned to open.
