Broken but not defeated

247 Words
One evening, I saw a message pop up on his screen. It was from a girl named *Tariro*. “I miss you,” it said. My heart dropped. I didn’t confront him that day. Instead, I watched. I waited. And I found out that he had been seeing her for months. When I finally asked him about it, he shrugged and said, “It’s not what you think.” But it was. He started drifting further and further away, like I was some old toy he didn’t care about anymore. I was hurt. Broken. I had wasted six years on someone who never truly loved me. I cried until I couldn’t cry anymore. Then something in me snapped. I wanted revenge. I told my older brother, *Tendai*, everything. He was furious. He always warned me about Malvin, but I never listened. So I made a plan. I knew Malvin had fully moved in with Tariro. What he didn’t know was that Tariro had a thing for my brother back in the day. I told Tendai to talk to her. At first, he said no. But after seeing my pain, he agreed. Tendai started texting her, slowly and carefully. Tariro, like a moth to a flame, fell for him quickly. One night, they met. And after that night, she got pregnant. She didn’t tell Malvin the truth. Instead, she told him he was the father. And just like that, Malvin was now raising a child that wasn’t his.
