Pax sighed with relief at the sound of her father’s car sputtering to life outside. Her body relaxed into the bed for a moment. Two years ago, when Pax started her freshman year at Golden Valley High, she and her father came to a mutual agreement that it would be best if she didn’t arrive at school with him. She already caught so much crap for being the principal’s daughter, and being seen walking in together was unbearable. Most days she either walked or had her friends pick her up.
