A Place for Everything

As she pulled down the gravel lane of the small trailer park she felt more and more uneasy. Most of the trailers were in a state of disrepair. The yards were junked up with old cars, broken down appliances and slowly decaying children's toys. This was nothing like her duplex apartment in the city; the botton floor of a tall victorian house with it's well manicured lawn and flower bed of lilies she had planted the summer prior. But she knew that this was the move they had to make. Dallas had lost his job due to company cut backs and she didn't make enough to carry the apartment by herself. He had found another job, but not soon enough to save the apartment. So she had done the only thing she could to ensure her children kept a roof over their heads. Finally Dallas pulled in to the driveway and she parked behind him. The children hopped out and ran ahead, excited to pick their bedrooms. She walked to Dallas and he grabbed her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it. "Bridget baby, I promise this is temporary. We just need to get back on our feet." They spent the next couple hours unloading the moving truck and putting beds together. It had gotten dark and they were exhausted all she wanted to do was take a shower and wash the disappointment of the day off of her. She went to Braxton's room where Dallas was putting the finishing touches on getting her son's bed assembled. "Hey Dallas darling, I am going to take a quick shower. I will meet you in bed?" He glanced over his shoulder and smiled at her, "of course baby, and when you get there I am going to give you the best back rub ever." She giggled to herself, appreciating how positive he has stayed about the whole situation and walked to the bathroom to take her shower. The water felt amazing, she could feel it wash away some of the hesitations she had about the new place. She stepped out and dried herself, putting on a black nightgown and braiding her long dark hair. When she emerged from the bathroom she felt a bit renewed. She walked to her new bedroom and Dallas was already on the bed. "Come here baby, lay down and let me rub your back, its been a rough day for you, I know."
