Sophia froze. Her heart pounded. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Standing in the moonlight was Zara, one of the healer wolves in the pack. She had always been kind, always smiled at Sophia. They had even shared stories over tea.
“You?” Sophia’s voice trembled. “You’re working with the Rogue King?”
Zara lowered her hood, eyes filled with regret. “I didn’t want to. But he has my brother. If I don’t help him, they’ll kill him.”
Sophia stepped closer. “There’s always another way. Why didn’t you come to us?”
“No one would believe me,” Zara whispered. “They would think I’m a traitor.”
“You are a traitor,” Marcus’s voice boomed from the trees.
