Chapter 4

Lucifer Laurens I went to Frank's apartment. I was lucky enough to jump the fence and have the ladder to my open window still there. When I got inside I quickly locked the window and the door. I heard Frank running up here. he knows I'm here. Jace was at the front now. Stupid apartments. I always wanted to go far away. There's nothing left for me here, I can have a fresh start where no one knows me. I cause trouble nobody wants to deal with. I just want to sit in the dark, be invisible sometimes. Just a room where I can be there in the calming darkness. Death sounds good too but I'd rather sleep since it's like death without commitment. Death with benefits so to say. But I would appreciate not dying now! I stand trying to hold the door close. I can hear the running of his heavy steps. My vision blurs. I'm not gonna make it this time. I want my mum. She knew how to handle him. "Lucifer!" He yells unafraid of letting the neighbors hear. The door is getting pounded on. The neighbors were alerted. Someone must've called. "f**k off Frank!" I hissed. He doesn't deserve my respect. Plus if I'm gonna die. I'm going all out. I can hear Jace asking for Frank to talk. "Respect me, son. I am the only person who supports you!" He pounds on the door. I cover my ears, my back against the door. The door is cracking. "Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck!" I repeat. I hear Jace yelling. I hear my heart in my chest. I hear the smashing of beer bottles against the door. I pulled out my phone and hid the camera in my bag. I dialed the number Miss Lee gave me. "Lucifer, I need you to run, run, and don't look back. I'm sending people already over, they'll take care of Frank," A woman begins. I hear gunshots. I don't know from who. "Help me please, he's gonna get me!" I start to cry and scream into the phone. I'm pulling my hair. I can't breathe! I let go of the door and searched for my stuff. "Calm down, I need you to start running to 436 North Benngue avenue," she asked. I quickly ran to a chair and stuffed it under the doorknob. The door began to c***k open. I see his eyes, Jace behind him. A g*n. "Lucifer, run and don't stop," Jace said. Frank turned around and felt a warm liquid splatter on my neck and back. The gunshot made my ears ring. I turned to make a break for it and struggled with opening it. I finally got it opened and grabbed my bag. I started my way down the ladder. I jumped the last few steps. I hear the door slam open. I jumped the fence and ran. I heard a scream. I turned around and I see a b****y stained teacher ridding evidence in the opposite direction. He was almost unrecognizable by the way he acted. I ran like hell on my tail. The cloudy sky lets down rain. The alleyways were my best bet, I could try to make it to the address but it's too far. I won't make it before someone else finds me. Tears still ran down my face, I could've died if it wasn't for Jace, but it was too close for comfort. I ran far until I found an alleyway, dark and cozy. No one was there and nobody was near. "Lucy are you still there?! Lucy please," she sounded desperate. I wiped my face and continue running. She sounds like my mom. "I-I'm fi-fine," I choked out. I end the call. I'm not gonna bother, they have his address and guarantee all they are gonna find is a perfect set-up suicide. I looked where I could be safe from Frank's g**g. My legs ached, my lungs felt as if they were squeezed, and my stomach was doing flips. When I finally made it, it was pouring and it took five damn hours. Clary's bar, she been open for years and my mum used to work here. It is almost like a dine-in-strip club. It was packed like usual and I walked to the bar area. Moxxi and Clary were serving drinks. One glance and Clary jumped over the counter and hugged me tightly. "Oh, my baby who hurt you!? Are you okay? Have you eaten?!" She panicked. She wiped my tears and leads me to a stool near the bar. This bar is usually filled with women, it's a gay bar. An undercover gay bar. "Stay here," she left me on a stool near the bar. Moxxi only sighed before leaning over the counter, her breast exposed, her face covered in makeup but not enough to cover the bags under her eyes. Moxxi was sweet, she was a flirt, very charming, and could have anybody she wanted in bed. A bonus was she made some damn good drinks. My mom used to be friends, with most servers here, Clary acted like a sister to her. I glanced at my hands. Moxxi put her hands on top of mine. "You know something? Soon you will be in jail, the government has no faith in you, but everyone else does. The world may be against you, but you have some who aren't. You know what's the only problem?" She said before motioning if I wanted a drink. I nodded. She gets me a glass of whiskey. She placed it in front of me and went back to her position of leaning over the counter. "No, enlighten me, Mox," I sassed and took a nice long sip of my whiskey. The burning of my throat but the warm feeling it gave me was always welcomed. I felt my body slowly feeling relaxed. I asked for a refill. "On the house by the way, but you don't believe in yourself baby. Lucy, hun everyone is here trying to help but you're not helping yourself. Stop the fights, smoking, and just be a student for another year," she begs, I shrug and just drink more. I heard some chatter in the back, more people seem anxious as the night carried on. I finished my drink before going to the heart of the commotion. A teen was getting f****d by some old dude. I realized how young he was and all I could see was a younger me. Frank touches me in front of my mother who's unconscious on the floor. I would scream but no one would hear. My mom and I were his toys. I wasn't letting someone else have that. I stole a beer bottle from a nearby man who was nearly passing out. I stand near the guy and shove him. "What?" He turns, smirking. I smiled and smashed the bottle against his head. Pushing him so he pulled out of the kid. "b***h," I sneered and get the younger boy off of him. He seemed completely out of it. "Alright kiddo, let's get you to safety," I sighed and pick him up. My malnourished body was not putting up with me. I look at Clary and Moxxi. Moxxi nodded and went to handle the bastard bleeding on her floor. Yeah, he was gonna be missing for a few weeks. "I prepared a room, go on. I am almost done with your meal too," Clary smiled giving me a key to the room. I thanked her and left to the back and upstairs. I don't get paid enough for life. When I woke up, I was with a killer headache. Couldn't say the kid had it better. I was getting changed in clothes I left here a while ago. I was now in a more or less clean t-shirt with some more or less s****l images, jeans, and a leather jacket. I smiled at my old self. So mischievous. I turned when I heard the bed squeak. "Where am I?" He sounded tired. I tossed him a spare t-shirt of mine. He slips it on and stared at me. I grabbed the Tylenol bottle and downed a few. I threw the closed bottle at the younger kid. "Where. Am. I?" He said much more sternly. I found a water bottle. "I've got to thank Moxxi! Listen, kid, I found you getting f****d, money is yours. I almost killed him but whatever and now you're in my bed, using my shirt, and yeah you're welcome," I said tying the laces of my boots tightly. I needed to ride up to the north of Highsnow. The place was far, she'd understand. "What the hell?!" He screeched and uncovered himself slightly. He was trembling. "Laurens by the way... in case you wanted to know your savior. Got a place to be? I can take you up. I got to meet someone first," he sobbed as he was screaming how he trusted the man. Must be a runaway. "Wh-where ya he..headed?" He stuttered as he sniffled. I ruffled my hair a bit. A drink and then to Lee's. "Up north, need a ride?" He nods slowly and asked for new pants. I tossed him the smallest pair, he heads to shower. I looked at my phone. Messages from Mikasa asking about me, if he hurt me again. Will asked if he needed to get milk again and if frank needed to be 'removed'. I smiled and shoved my pager into my pocket. I had a low battery and needed it to get to a safe house. The kid and I finally made it to the front. Clary sends us off with food, she took care of the bastards and all who filmed. Moxxi gives me a knowing look before handing me a bottle in a paper bag. "For later, now off with ya sugar," She smiled, her red roots showing, the black fading to grey. I hugged the two women and leave in the car Moxxi said I could use. I missed the car Michaels gave me but hey I love myself a Bailey especially since it was a 1970s model. We get in a begin to drive up north. It takes a while but soon I realize we were being followed. "What's your name?" I asked looking to see the car. "McLennan. My name is McLennan. We go to the same school, saw you beat up Davidson a few days ago." I flinched. School. It's been a few days and I haven't been to school. I was so tired I slept for three days. I know Jace took care of Frank. Police found him dead yesterday, they believe it was suicide due to the mess around the apartment. At least that's what Clary said. "McLennan, do me a favor and... wait do you know how to drive?" I asked looking in the side mirrors. A black small car, seem old and beaten was following us. Frank's goons. I glanced at the kid. He was shaking, pale. "McLennan, yes or no!?" I said now worried as the bridge was coming up. I could be dropped off and he could hide in a car repair shop. I know who is gonna find me if I end up in any trouble. "Yes I can, why?!" As soon as the light turned red I switch seats with him. I grabbed a backpack from the backseat and shoved the bottle in there. A clink made me smile. "Moxxi I love ya girl! Okay, McLennan, you better bring this car to this address, I left it in the cupholder. That car won't stop until I'm dead. Next light I'm gonna head to that bridge and stall them. You drive and get the hell away," I said writing my address quickly. Gas ain't cheap so I leave some euros and run out of the car as the light turns green again. I don't let him question me. I turned quickly and noticed the guys parked the car and since they ain't slick, obviously followed me to the bridge. I dial 1-1-2. A woman says the usual and I tell her what's up. I begged for help and she sends it immediately. I smirked as I got to the edge, the bridge hasn't been repaired since WW2. I smirked as I see the siren's lights. It fell quickly when I see a g*n. I only had a knife. I take it out. "Get...get back Henry!" I stuttered. He shakes his head. His grey hair was short. Clothes were tattered and tattoos on his arms were like sleeves. "Sorry kid, we got orders and even if you were helpful ya ain't no more." Uncle Henry takes the safety off. Aims it at me. Another aims at me. Steven. He hated me, but not enough to not have s*x with me. "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight baby," He cooed. The insane bastard shot my leg. I groan and double over. Pain, so much pain. I knew Henry was gonna finish me off and the police began shooting just in time. I smiled seeing Mr. Michaels He was running toward me with a worried expression. He worries too much. My leg went weak. My injured wrist and leg, and beaten body finally gave in. I felt one more pain insert my stomach. I was pushed over the edge. Michaels yelled. All I could think though was damn I just got clean clothes. I readied my body for impact... . . . . "Lucifer, son stay with me. Talk to me" I looked up. Mr. Michaels was there holding me by the arm, panting. I can't feel the pain. He's holding my sprained wrist. It might be dislocated now though. I smiled at him. My body felt drained. I can't feel anything but the pain in my stomach. "You didn't let me go?" I asked. "Lucifer that's something I'm not planning on doing ever again. I swear it" he says to me. I felt tired, but I had a place to be and nothing was stopping me. Michaels is gonna be pissed at me for this, I collapse again. He tries to stop the bleeding. "Why is the world spinning?" I asked giggling a bit. I can't feel anything, but then I remember the pain. Soon I'm a crying screaming mess as he calls paramedics up. I got patched up and the g**g was arrested. I see a familiar hat and smiled. "What is it, son?" "You wouldn't understand," I smiled wider seeing the man interact with the officers. With a silver tongue, he got the officers to do the dirty work. Jaime Dean "Can you believe this Jaime!?" Greg had been ranting about a guy he met today at school. I was already pretty high so at this point, I don't care about his gay fantasies. "Ask if he's single; if he's single, take him on a date," I said. Greg looks at me with horror. This guy is so far in the closet, I swear he's found Narnia by now. "I'm not gay Jaime!" He hissed. "Well you can't get a girl and on top of that, every book in your room has a homosexual vibe to them. Change my mind," I dared him. He scoffed. His face dropped. He ran to grab a jacket and leaves his homework untouched. "Where are you going, Gav?" I asked as I inspected my broken nails. "Will's roommate finally got home, but they said he was in a shooting!" He yells as he runs out of the house. I got a text. It was a message from one of my suppliers. I open the text.'I got the stuff finally. Come get it and hurry I have other people to go to.' I smiled, looks like homework will have to wait. I got up, grabbed a jacket, and ran out quickly taking my essentials with me. I'm not gonna bother texting back. I met my supplier, Mark C, in the park. It was dark out. I twirled my pocket knife in my pocket. You can never be too careful in this stupid town. Highsnow has been known for its 'dealing'. Idiots move here thinking it's a nice little town. They are damn wrong. This place might as well be ruled by the devil. "Where is it?" I demanded as I came up behind him. Mark threw a punch and soon I had my knife at his throat in a hold on the ground. "This is my last jacket, I'd hate to get it stained," I say. He struggles and I press the knife closer. The i***t was supposed to come alone. I looked in the corner of my eye to see his 'g**g'. "F-Fine let me go" he stuttered as he tried to get out of my hold. It's all about leverage. I let him go and shove him away. "Where is it?" I demanded once more. My patience wearing thin. I'm high, not helpless. He tossed me a bag. I get out a roll of money and toss it to him. I may have given him less than what he asked for. As I walked away quickly he runs and grabs my arm. "This wasn't the deal!" He fumed. I move my arm away violently. "We also said that it would be just us and no one would be harmed. Your group is behind that car right there so beat it." I said annoyed. He growls and I book it running. There were too many and I only had a pocket knife, not my daggers. The cops come into view and I smirked. The guys ran after me and I ran across the street. Mark was closer so I turned and started to beat the git. Wait for it... The siren goes off and two officers put all of us at gunpoint. I had this planned and was able to plant the stuff in some gum wrappers and a case. The thing smells too much like mint and masked the smell. We were soon taken to the station. "Back already Dean?" The cop sneers. I sighed. My plan might not have been as great as I hoped now that I think about it. "I don't want to be here anymore than you do" I barked back. The officer was gonna yell at me more but another cop barged in. "We need this room. Now"! I hear the yelling of two grown men. They were saying everything was set up. "You're lucky Dean. Another issue like this again and it's counseling again or juvenile detention" he threatened as he uncuffed my hands. I glared at him. This i***t must've been terrible if they need to let me go. Luckily I'm seventeen and not eighteen yet so ha! They gave me my stuff back; they just took my knife. They didn't want to deal with me any longer as they now had bigger problems. "Get your f*****g hands off of me damn it! I know he's here!" I heard. I wonder who they're looking for. "He set us up! I swear it was that brat's fault!" I heard someone else scream. The officer sighed. "Why now" was all he said as he showed me out. I see the two guys matching the radio's description. I hear the radio talking about a teen who brought down a small g**g risking his life while others bashed him for being near that area in the first place. "Better be careful Dean" the officer threatened as he escorted me out. It seems as if they no longer notify my mother anymore, or my "dad". f**k Killian Dean. I rolled my eyes and started the walk home. Belle was not gonna be happy with me. Not that I care. I wonder what happened to the guy who almost killed himself though. The station showed he jumped. Luckily one rescued him.
