Chapter 38

Jenny walked past and took pictures of Jessie feeding Dawn and them laughing. Dawn kept looking at Jessie’s eyes as he looked at her eyes. His eyes lowered to her lips and he leaned closer. Jessie wrapped his arm around Dawn as he kissed her. They were unaware of Jenny taking pictures of them. Jenny sent it to everyone she knew including Laura. Jessie helped Dawn off the table they were sitting on, he put the rubbish in the bin as they walked towards the obstacle course. They left their phones in the car so they were unaware of the gossiping posts being posted about them on i********:. Dawn and Jessie were being followed. Jessie waited outside the area as Dawn stretched and turned side to side. Jessie laughed at Dawn sticking her tongue out at him. “Are you ready?” Lucas asked. “Yes.” Dawn said. Lucas nodded at the man. He pulled the fake gun and Dawn took off. They had to run to a large rope to climb up the wall. Dawn grabbed the rope and used her feet on the wall to run up it. The boys looked shocked then copied her. Dawn jumped off the wall and ran to the jumping part. Dawn had started running across uneven platforms that kept changing their angle due to and weight on it. She was quick and made it through the platforms. Then Dawn ran to the track part where sprinklers were aimed at your face as you have to run over hurdles. She lifted her dress to be like a shirt as she leaped over them. The boys were still on the uneven platform. They were struggling. Dawn grabbed the rope and swung over the pile of mud on the ground. She ran to these metal rods that she had to run along without slipping, her shoes made it difficult but she was still in the lead. Last was a wall to climb that was not that tall. But she had to do the splits as she held her position to grip her hands up higher. Dawn kept pulling herself up and she giggled. Patrick and the others had joined to watch her without her knowing and they were shocked at how natural she looked. Dawn reached the top and pressed the button. The man laughed as he saw the other two coming up. “What’s your name miss?” The man asked. “Dawn, Dawn Rivers.” Dawn said. “Give it up for Dawn Rivers! We have a new record!” The man said. He lifted Dawn’s hand to the crowd. The confetti shot out at the new record. Dawn did this in under 3 minutes. The second fastest was 6 minutes and 43 seconds. The confetti burst out again and again as the new record was made. Jessie was cheering so loud that he could be heard. “GO DAWN!” Jessie screamed. “Do you know that man?” The man asked. “He is my boyfriend.” Dawn said softly. “Sir, spoil your girl. She beat the record and deserves a night to remember.” The man said. “I already plan to spoil her!” Jessie shouted. Dawn and the man laughed. “How do I get down?” Dawn asked. “There’s stairs.” The man said. “Ew, I hate stairs. I got it.” Dawn said. “She hates stairs everyone.” The man laughed. He watched as she backflipped off the platform and landed on her feet. She ran to the fence and jumped it without grabbing a railing for a boost. “She’s a gymnast or something.” The man said. “She’s everything! Gymnast, dancer, cheerleader! Everything!” Lucas shouted. He was out of breath and the man laughed. “A woman that does everything. Imagine that. Well Miss Dawn Rivers, the gymnast, dancer, cheerleader that does everything. Head to the front of the course I will give you a stamp for free rides for the rest of the evening.” The man said. Dawn had run into Jessie’s arms and nodded at the man. “You look cute together. So short compared to him.” The man said. Dawn laughed as Jessie carried her looking really proud of her. “You’re my cheerleader.” Dawn giggled. “I always will be.” Jessie said. Patrick looked shocked. “Guys, someone saw them kissing and there are so many mean things on i********: about it.” Patrick said. The guys pulled out their phones. They saw Dawn and Jessie feeding chips to each other, Jessie feeding Dawn alone and then Jessie leaning closer and kissing her with his arm around her. Posts captioned she stole him, posts captioned she is wearing his hickey, posts calling her a homewrecker and a slut. Patrick ran to Jessie and showed him. Dawn saw it as well. “Who posted it?” Jessie asked. “It doesn’t matter. It’s out there. The best we can do is ignore it and if asked we explain the truth.” Dawn said. “Dawn, they are calling you a slut and a homewrecker.” Patrick said. “And we know the truth. That Laura was obsessed with Jessie and refused to accept that Jessie never liked her that way. Laura was jealous and her jealousy caused her to become violent. Laura is just a spoilt brat trying to claim someone who doesn’t like him. Jessie asked me out, not her. If that doesn’t explain who he has an interest in, then people are gullible and stupid for falling for Laura’s victim pleas.” Dawn stated. “But they are going to treat you like s**t at school.” Patrick said. “Who cares if they do. They were stupid enough to believe Laura. If Jessie saw Laura as anything more than a friend, he would have stood near her, he would have danced with her, ate next to her. He always stood next to me. He always held me and hugged me. Jessie is the only person who knows the truth besides us. He would call me things and agree if it was true. But it isn’t. Laura made up a relationship in her head because she wanted him to the point that she asked him out and he turned her down.” Dawn said. “Dawn’s right. I never liked Laura that way. And I never gave her the impression I did. I’ve liked Dawn since the moment we saw her being a troublemaker at school. With the sarcastic remark to the teacher when she got Laura out of school. The spray paint can. And I ran after her, I was about to collapse on the hill. She noticed and came back to help me when she was angry with us. If people can’t see Dawn as the innocent person who helped us, who never raised a hand or a finger to hurt Laura. Unlike Laura bruising her which Dawn still bears the bruise on her right now. Then everyone believing Laura’s lies are stupid as f**k and idiots. Dawn hasn’t done anything to deserve bullying. She’s always been a target of bullying. The photos of us kissing are now out there, if people can’t see the genuine feelings and the fact we care deeply about each other, then they can say what they want. We don’t care. We know the truth.” Jessie said.
