Dawn laughed and leaned back on him. Jessie wrapped his arms around her stomach. They sat there holding each other as Hawkeye watched. He flew to them and walked onto Jessie. “Hey Hawkie.” Jessie said. Hawkeye nestled into Jessie’s shoulder near Dawn’s head. “I’m surprised he’s on you.” Dawn said. “I’m too scared to shoo him off.” Jessie said. Mark was trying to not laugh. Patrick was recording them. “I can’t believe though, that you said no to dating me. I wanted to take you ice skating and then to lunch and a movie.” Jessie said. “As I explained though, with Laura behaving the way she has been, I don’t think we should be alone in public together. She told everyone I was stealing you. She called me a slut this morning.” Dawn said. “You’re not a slut, you’re a virgin.” Jessie said. “I know. And I plan on staying that way until I am at least 18.” Dawn said. “I know, and I wouldn’t change that. But you should probably stop showing hickeys then.” Jessie said. “Oh really?” Dawn asked. Dawn raised her eyebrow at him and he laughed. He then noticed they had an audience. “Hello.” Jessie said. He didn’t remove his arms from around Dawn, she turned her head to face Mark and Patrick. “You two look so cute together.” Mark said. “So when will it be official?” Patrick asked. “No, first I want to know when Jessie asked you on a date?” Mark asked. He asked it loudly making sure Laura heard him. Laura started crying louder and stormed off outside. “We should change the locks.” Patrick joked. “Tempting.” Mark said. Dawn and Jessie laughed. “I asked Dawn on a date this morning after we spoke about everything last night. We were going to pretend to be angry at each other but hug in private. But after Laura hurt her, I figured screw it. And I didn’t want Dawn looking like she wasn’t wearing pants so she changed into this beautiful outfit.” Jessie said. “Laura saw you carrying her and started crying as she saw it. We thought it was cute though.” Mark said. “I promise, I don’t intent on hurting Dawn, Mr Bridge. Dawn means more to me than anything else. I would never hurt her.” Jessie said. “I believe you.” Mark said. “Hey, where do I fit in? She means more than me, but where am I?” Patrick joked. “You’re his second leading lady Patricia.” Dawn joked. They laughed. “You should finish getting ready. Patrick, make sure you get everything you need.” Mark said. “Yes dad.” Patrick said. Mark followed Patrick and gave him $400 so he could give Dawn $200 as well as making sure she had any drinks or food. Patrick tried refusing but Mark was stern and made him take it. “Guess they know.” Jessie said. “I think you left the door open on purpose.” Dawn said. “Maybe. Maybe not.” Jessie joked. “What am I going to do with you?” Dawn asked. “Kiss me?” Jessie asked. Dawn giggled. She got on her knees and turned around. Dawn was sitting on his lap and hugged him then kissed him. Jessie wrapped his arms around her. He made sure to not touch her butt in case they were being watched. “You are an amazing young woman, Sunshine. The more I am near you, the happier I feel. When I am away from you, I miss you like crazy.” Jessie said. “You’re an amazing woman too Jessie.” Dawn joked. Jessie laughed. He pulled Dawn closer to lay her chest on him. “Dawn, I have to tell you something.” Jessie said. “If it’s about the future, don’t. Let’s live in the now until you leave. When you leave, we will pause it until we finish college.” Dawn said. “Wait, are you afraid I would date someone else?” Jessie asked. “No, but I’m concerned it’s a possibility.” Dawn said. “Well, I won’t. I was going to say I would wait for you. I love you.” Jessie said. Dawn sniffled and hugged him close. She was blushing and speechless. “We’re leaving in 5!” Patrick called out. Dawn got off of Jessie and put some socks and shoes on. Jessie kept his hand around her waist as they walked out her room. Dawn was smiling as she held his hand. Jessie was feeling content to see her smile. Mark took a picture of them as they looked at each other and walked down the stairs. Dawn laughed as Jessie stuck his tongue out like a child. They walked towards the door, Laura was out the front on the front porch in the swing. Laura saw Jessie walk out with his arm around Dawn and Patrick following behind them. Mark stood in the doorway and watched them leave. Jessie picked Dawn up and carried her to the front seat of his car. Patrick sat in the back. Jessie smiled as he buckled her in and then tickled her stomach. Dawn laughed until he stopped. Patrick was slightly jealous but he was enjoying hearing her laugh. He loved watching Dawn smile and her random bursts of giggling. Jessie started his car and took them to the carnival. Mark looked at Laura. “They belong together Laura, they deserve each other and they like each other. Now please stop being jealous about it and move on.” Mark said. “But she knew I liked him!” Laura snapped. “And you knew she liked him. She only became your friend again the first day we all met her because of Jessie. Dawn felt betrayed because of you all trying to force out the secret about her past. And Jessie ran a long distance as you saw, he ran up a large hill as well, to catch up to her and beg her to stay your friend. That’s when it was clear to me that he liked her. He thinks of you as a sister, but he thinks of her as someone he could spend his life with. If you really like Jessie, then let him be with her. If they aren’t right for each other, he will need us to talk to. The more you fight them, the stronger he will care for her. The more he will care for her and see you as the bad guy. You saw it yourself, he came here and instead of hurting you, he said his only concern was Dawn. He comforted her, carried her, he even did her hair and held her while we watched without them knowing we were watching.” Mark said. Laura was a mess. She was crying. “Listen, the next time you hurt her I will file a police report. I will press charges. She hasn’t hurt you. Dawn told me you would react badly. She gave herself a hickey to prove a point and you still attacked her. She explained the plan to me this morning before she gave herself one.” Mark said. Laura looked at the floor crying.
