Mark laughed as Dawn was making silly postures as she tried clothes on. Dawn had grown a couple cup sizes so they had her fitted properly. Mark laughed as she squealed to the strap hitting her. He sat out there waiting for her to try on more bras. He took her to get new pyjama’s and new clothes. Mark took Dawn to the costume shop to dress her up for the party.
They made her wear a black tight dress, they recommended it with a black mask that had gold trim along the edges. Dawn had them throw a gold sling of fabric around her waist to tighten it. That way it matched the mask.
They walked to the hairdresser where they did her hair up in beautiful curls that were put up in a style. They grabbed black high heels as she tried them on. Mark saw her smile as she twirled in them. He took her to a beautician and they helped her to do her make up. She looked like a beautiful model. Mark carried her stuff to the car as she walked in the shops. The mask was in the bag. They walked to a jewellery shop.
“We just want a small charm bracelet that’s gold. Maybe a heart and a bird on it.” Mark said.
Dawn looked shocked.
“It will match your outfit for the party.” Mark said.
Dawn stayed quiet, looking shocked. They fitted her with the bracelet. Mark paid then they left. Mark drove to the hotel where the ballroom was. He texted he had arrived. He grabbed her mask and helped her out the car. Dawn was nervous. She walked inside. The hotel ballroom was white marble with gold inside the marble. Gold trim along the walls and door frames. She saw the buffet table and tried sneaking over there. Mark laughed and grabbed her hand.
“People are arriving soon. I want you to hide. I want you to surprise them.” Mark said.
Dawn nodded. Lucas and Scott were the first to arrive. Dawn was dancing near the speakers when they arrived. A lot more people started arriving. Dawn hadn’t noticed when Laura arrived with Jessie and Patrick. She didn’t notice when the other guys arrived. Or even when Tate arrived. She disappeared to head to the bathroom. She came back out and Jessie saw her. His mouth dropped.
“Whoa.” Jessie said.
The guys followed his gaze. Mark laughed.
“You don’t know who that is.” Mark said.
“She’s an angel, I have to dance with her.” Jessie said.
“I thought you liked Dawn.” Mark teased.
Jessie was already on his way over there.
“Where is Dawn?” Laura asked.
“I was teasing him. That is Dawn.” Mark laughed.
The guys looked in shock. Jessie asked her for a dance and Dawn nodded. Dawn grabbed his hand as they walked away. They started to slow dance and Jessie looked into her eyes.
He realised it was Dawn the second he looked into her eyes. He smiled a big smile of relief when he knew. Dawn and Jessie smiled to each other. Dawn didn’t know it was Jessie.
The slow song ended then a tango song started. He gestured and she laughed and nodded. He spun her before they started.
Jessie moved his hand slowly to her waist before the beat picked up. He spun her fast from her waist. Jessie had a hand on her waist and held her other hand as they danced.
“Did you know they knew tango?” Mark asked.
“No, I know they watched dance movies together a lot.” Patrick said.
Jessie picked Dawn up with one hand supporting her lower back before he threw her up. Dawn giggled and Jessie caught her in his arms. Dawn’s hand was around his neck, she looked into his eyes.
“Where did you learn to dance?” Dawn asked.
Jessie stayed quiet and smiled. Jessie lifted her at her waist as he spun around with her. Dawn smiled and giggled. She started to move her feet faster as the beat picked up. Dawn shook her hips fast as she danced towards him. Jessie mimicked her with his feet. He leaned closer to Dawn, forehead to forehead. He leaned her backwards and spun her a little. Dawn giggled. Jessie stood her up straight away. The song ended. They were resting their foreheads on each other again.
“Let’s take it up a notch people. Get more dancers on the dance floor. Join in.” The person with the mic announced.
The music started playing an upbeat club song. Jessie kept eye contact with Dawn.
“Want to continue dancing?” Dawn asked.
Jessie nodded. Knowing if she recognises his voice, she might retreat.
“Great, I love how you dance.” Dawn admitted.
Jessie laughed. They grabbed hands after she turned around.
Dawn and Jessie kept space between them as other people slowly gathered onto the floor. They started to sway their hips in sync as Jessie was behind her. Dawn kept her eyes on Jessie as they danced.
“What’s on your mind?” Jessie asked.
He tried changing the tone of his voice.
“You remind me of my friend. The way you dance, the way your eyes are. Who are you?” Dawn asked.
“I’ll tell you later.” Jessie said.
Dawn nodded.
Jessie and Dawn were dancing face to face again. Dawn lifted her leg high and Jessie grabbed it. Jessie kept eye contact. Jessie slowly slid his hand to her knee then moved her leg to his waist. Dawn lifted her other leg to his waist. Jessie hugged her as they spun around. He laughed as she leaned back and giggled to the motion of the breeze in her hair and face. Jessie leaned her up against his chest. Jessie’s hand slowly slid to her backside.
Jessie gently nudged her knee from his waist and Dawn listened. Jessie slowly leaned her towards the edge of the staircase hidden by everyone.
“So, who are you?” Dawn asked.
Her chest was rising and falling. It was very obvious. Jessie leaned closer. He quoted some of his poem.
“Your name is right. You are the light. Dawn, my sunrise. The light I see when I look in your eyes.” Jessie said.
Dawn’s face showed she was really happy. She pulled Jessie towards her and kissed him. Jessie was shocked but let her kiss him. Dawn pushed him against the wall as she kissed him. Jessie raised his hands to her waist and pulled her closer. When Dawn pulled away, she wiped her lip gloss from his lip.
“I thought it was you. You did part Dirty Dancing part Julie and the phantoms with me.” Dawn giggled.
“I knew it was you, the second I looked into your eyes.” Jessie said.
They giggled. Jessie wiped her bottom lip so there was no smeared lip gloss.
“Shall I get you a drink?” Jessie asked.
“Yes please.” Dawn said.
