“Savages.” Dawn mumbled.
“Come on.” Mark said.
They started to walk away as Dawn got up. But she grabbed her blanket and jumped on her bed. They heard the mattress and laughed.
“Manual labour it is.” Mark said.
Patrick and Jessie walked in and picked her up. They both held an arm and leg. Dawn tried wiggling free.
“I made you a special breakfast.” Mark said.
“Breakfast?” Dawn asked.
“Next time, start with that.” Laura laughed.
They put Dawn down and she followed behind Mark. Jessie noticed he could see through her pyjama pants just, he could make out she was wearing a thong under them. And he looked at Patrick to ask if Patrick noticed. But Patrick was already looking. Jessie tried to not laugh. He went back to looking while she walked down the stairs with Mark.
“Go sit at the table, I’ll bring your breakfast out to you.” Mark said.
“Thank you.” Dawn said.
Jessie walked closer to Dawn and whispered.
“Not to make you uncomfortable, or freak you out. Or to make you feel judged. But we can see your thong through your shorts.” Jessie whispered.
Dawn’s face turned red. Jessie was unzipping his jacket.
“Wrap this around you.” Jessie whispered.
Dawn nodded as she stood up. She wrapped it around her then sat back down. Mark brought a large plate of French toast with diced onion and diced bacon cooked into it. He had a plate of pancakes with syrup smothered on it and whipped cream. Dawn’s eyes opened wide.
“Eat up Dawn. We have a surprise for you later.” Mark said.
Dawn nodded. She started eating the French toast first. It was her favourite way to eat French toast, with the bacon and onion.
Then Dawn went to the pancakes as everyone ate their breakfast. They watched her devour the food. Jessie was sitting next to Dawn with a shocked look on his face. Dawn snuck her fork to his plate to grab a slice of banana to enjoy her last bite of her pancake with. Jessie laughed.
“Banana thief.” Jessie joked.
Dawn held her stomach with a happy grin.
“Don’t regret it. Made it much better.” Dawn laughed.
They laughed. Jessie cut a piece of pancake and added a banana slice to it. He had it on his fork and handed it to Dawn. Dawn looked at him confused.
“Don’t even act like you’re full. I saw you not eating much yesterday. Eat some of mine.” Jessie said.
Jessie took a sip of his coffee.
“Paying attention to my eating habits now?” Dawn asked.
“You need to keep your strength up. I know you love food, not seeing you near food means something is bothering you. So, until you want to talk, just eat.” Jessie said.
He acted like it meant nothing more than caring. Laura was a bit jealous. She had liked Jessie for many years, he always had given Laura his attention. But then Dawn came into the picture and Laura noticed everyone favoured Dawn.
“Jelly, when is your next match?” Dawn asked.
“Next week.” Jessie said.
Jessie grabbed his fork after Dawn ate the bit of pancake and cut himself a piece. He then cut another piece for her and offered it. Then Jessie drank some more coffee.
“Look at you two, acting like a cute couple.” Mark teased.
Their faces dropped when Dawn had his fork in her mouth. She shook her head.
“We aren’t a couple.” They both said.
“I know, but you should be. You would both make a cute couple.” Mark said.
“Nope.” Jessie said.
“I’m not wanting a relationship.” Dawn said.
“And I’m not risking the drama of a relationship. I also remember your words the first night Mr Bridge. And I prefer to live.” Jessie said.
Mark laughed.
“What words?” Dawn asked.
“Dad threatened them to keep you safe, that no one including them touch you. He said he’d hurt them. But I don’t think he said kill them.” Laura said.
“The kill was mentioned in a private conversation.” Mark said.
Dawn had a wicked grin on her face and then she turned it into a smirk.
“Interesting. So, if I moved Jelly’s hand to my leg, you would kill him?” Dawn asked.
Jessie raised his eyebrow and looked at Dawn shocked. Mark was laughing at her tone.
“You want me dead?” Jessie asked.
“No, but it’s nice to know I have power over you.” Dawn said.
They all laughed as Jessie fed her another piece of his pancakes.
“Can’t let you have me killed. Eat.” Jessie joked.
Dawn laughed. She took his fork and took a bite.
“You two really would make a cute couple though. I’ve noticed how you both seem protective of each other.” Mark said.
“We are just friends. That’s all we are, Mr Bridge.” Jessie said.
“I don’t even want to think of Jessie in that way.” Dawn said.
“Why are you wearing his jacket around your waist then?” Mark asked.
“Jelly said he noticed my pants were see through and handed his jacket to me to wrap around myself. So that I could feel comfortable.” Dawn said.
“Checking her out huh.” Mark joked.
“No sir, it wasn’t on purpose.” Jessie lied.
“It’s fine, I was joking Jessie.” Mark said.
“Mr Bridge, I think Dawn needs bigger clothes. In all honesty her body is still growing and her clothes look like they don’t fit her properly anymore. She needs another size or two up.” Jessie said.
“I hadn’t noticed. Dawn, are your clothes tight?” Mark asked.
Dawn nodded.
“Especially around the hips and chest.” Dawn said softly.
