Dawn drank them all quickly one after the other and stood still holding her stomach. She took a moment and tried to cover her mouth. The loudest burp she could ever do, she did. It was that loud they were told to shh by the librarian.
“Sorry.” Dawn called out.
Dawn threw a cushion hard, towards Scott, he was still laughing.
“From now on, you aren’t doing mine.” Dawn said.
“Let’s continue.” Lucas said.
“I can’t, I am about to vomit some f*****g soda so I don’t burp at work. Then I have to leave. I need my board out of your car.” Dawn said.
“Sure, I will come with you.” Lucas said.
Dawn nodded, she walked to the bathroom first then vomited her contents before she fixed her make up and walked out. Dawn walked out and the boys walked her to the car.
Kai wasn’t in the library anymore.
“Message when you are almost finished and we will pick you up.” Scott said.
Dawn nodded. She hugged and kissed them both before she left on her skate board.
Dawn still had her bag on her with her apron, her phone and wallet. She skated a few long blocks away from campus and turned at the light to see a huge crowd. Her body was on a billboard for Victoria secret. There were a few people pointing at her, so she looked away and crossed the road while she wasn’t meant to. Dawn skated further up then turned to avoid the public. She reached work and carried her board in.
“Hey, miss model.” Jet said.
“Can you stop calling me that. I only did those jobs for the money.” Dawn stated.
“So, you say. But you even have to admit the smile on your face was real.” Jet said.
Dawn turned and saw Kai sitting at a table reading.
“Small world. Hello again.” Dawn said.
Kai looked up and raised his eyebrow.
“Are you following me?” Kai asked.
Dawn laughed.
“I could ask you the same.” Dawn said.
She walked to Kai’s table slowly and sat down. She still had 15 minutes until work started, Jet carried a strawberry milkshake to her so she could enjoy it before work like every shift.
“Here you go, miss model.” Jet teased.
“Seriously Jet, stop calling me that.” Dawn said.
“No.” Jet said.
“The lady has asked you to stop, continuing is harassment. I can file a complaint with my father the captain at the police station. Keep harassing her mate.” Kai warned.
His tone was threatening and deep. Dawn didn’t recognise his voice. She looked at Jet, he was pale and walked away quickly.
“Thank you.” Dawn said softly.
“So, why could you ask me the same thing?” Kai asked.
His voice was back to normal.
“Well, the gymnasium, the library and now here. I was at the gymnasium and the library before you.” Dawn said.
“Yes, but I went to the gymnasium to speak to Coach Jansen. He’s also my godfather. I was learning about when tryouts were and trying to invite him to dads for dinner.” Kai said.
He saw Dawn’s eyes open wide. Dawn was about to speak but he spoke again.
“As for the library, I got my books to start studying early. I realised you were studying to get ahead and I should too. I’m a competitive person and I like making a challenge for myself. I also like making myself aware of surroundings so that no one can sneak up on me.” Kai said.
“So that’s why I saw you looking around a few times.” Dawn said.
Kai nodded and moved his hand to his chin with some fingers past his lip. Dawn noticed his blueish grey eyes and black hair, his chiselled face and could see the bulging muscles in his shirt as it hugged him tight. Kai noticed her looking at him closely and tried to not smile.
“So, Dawn Rivers, what brings you here?” Kai asked.
Dawn pulled her apron out of her bag and unrolled it.
“Work.” Dawn said.
“You work here?” Kai asked.
“Well yeah, after the Vogue situation no one would hire me again. But Vogue and Victoria Secret still post me up everywhere. I just saw a billboard on my way here that wasn’t there yesterday.” Dawn said.
“Where?” Kai asked.
“Couple streets that way. Why?” Dawn asked.
“I didn’t see it. But I came the long way.” Kai said.
Dawn nodded. She drank some more of her drink.
“Are you concerned about having a male roommate?” Kai asked.
Dawn shook her head.
“In all honesty I am rarely in the room. And when I am, as you saw, my friends are there.” Dawn said.
“Friends?” Kai asked.
“Yeah, Scott and Lucas.” Dawn said.
“Are you sure they are just friends?” Kai asked.
“Well, we hug and kiss but we are friends.” Dawn said.
Kai smirked and laughed a little as he looked away.
“From what I heard, you do more than that.” Kai said.
“We don’t really.” Dawn said.
Kai leaned forward. He closed most of the gap between them.
“You don’t have to deny it to me, they are your lovers. I heard them say they were your masters. And you said you sleep in their room. It’s fine if you are like that Dawn, just don’t insult my intelligence.” Kai said.
“You got the wrong idea about me then.” Dawn said.
Dawn got up and started to walk away.
“We’re not finished.” Kai said.
“Yeah, we are. Clearly.” Dawn said.
