Jason's POV
I woke up to the site of a sleeping Zaiden. He was sitting in the chair next my bed and his legs were up resting on my bed.
I can't believe he proposed me.
The Zaiden Banes, a man most of them would die or kill to have a single date with, proposed me!
I can't believe he came running to my home, just because I had a mild fever.
What have I ever done to be loved and cherished by this man to this extent.
The way he reacted when he heard about Mike. God, he was fuming with rage. But why it excites me so much.
Zaiden was sleeping like a baby. He seems to be tired today. It must be really uncomfortable for him to sleep like this. He is also a tall guy like me.
He woke up and caught me staring at him. He stood up, hovering over me with a smile. The memory of him kissing my forehead flashed in my mind. I felt my cheeks heating up at that thought
But it was just like a get well soon kiss, from a friend to another . It's nothing right?
Oh my god what is he up to now?
"You are up? How are you feeling?" he asked bringing me out of my thoughts. he smiled and reached to feel my forehead and neck. I shivered at his touch.
God stop thinking nonsense Jason. He is just checking your temperature.
"Sorry. I was just.."
"I know. It's ok. I'm better now."
" That's great. Your sister is assigned to a group project and she is supposed to meet them today. She was not ready to go, when they called her. I insisted that could I stay and watch over you. She will be back soon."
" Thank you. I'm really sorry for bothering you. I can manage now you know. You can go home now. It's weekend you might have some others plans."
"No thanks. I'm fine here. And No, I don't have any other plans. Stop feeling guilty for nothing. It's a pleasure taking care of you handsome" he winked
I chuckled at that. He is really a sweet guy.
"Stay there, I will be back in five minutes" He said and disappeared out of my view
"Here, have this. You will feel better" he said and set a table above the bed and kept a tray with breads and soup.
"Oh you don't have to do all this"
"But I want to."
"Thank you. Well you should join me too. I can't eat alone" I said
"Alright, I will go bring the cake that your sister prepared. Now finish the soup."
I tasted the soup and it's yum. But the soup doesn't taste like Al's usual chicken soup.
"Al didn't prepared the soup?" I questioned him when he came back.
"I did. It's my mom's recipe"
"Oh its yummy " I moaned, earning an amused smile from him.
He looks good when he is smiling like this. Zaiden is indeed an handsome man, six foot tall figure, shining dark red hair, blue eyes, pale skin, chiseled figure. This is guy beautiful inside and out. And the man can cook!
"Your sister was questioning about us" he said bringing me out of my thoughts.
I frowned at that.
"She asked whether we are dating "
I choked and literally sprayed the soup out. Luckily he was not sitting opposite to me.
"Hey you alright there?" he asked immediately rubbing my back
"Sorry" I sighed
"Al is always blunt. No beating around the bush. Al used to be a cute and bubbly girl. After we last our parents she became this over protective, strong sister with sharp tongue. After what Mike did, She thinks that it's her duty to protect me from breaking again. Did she said anything"
" I like that about the girl. She is just looking for you. She is just looking out for you. She wants to know whatever is happening in her brother's life. I understand that. Mine is worst. She is a detective in disguise. I can't hide a thing from her"
I chuckled at that.
"I told your sister that, It's not my place to answer that question and she should ask you that."
He told her what? Now, she would have confirmed that something is there to hide and she wouldn't let it go, until she gets to the end of it
"What happened something wrong?"he asked me
"You told her to ask me? "
He nodded
" Do you know the meaning of that? You just told her that, there is something but you wouldn't tell her"
"Oh s**t. sorry I didn't mean to do that"
"It's ok." I sighed and finished my soup
We finished having the food and chatting about movies, food, basketball , basically everything else but work.
Al came home soon, as promised
"Sorry brother. I couldn't avoid the meeting and sweet Zaiden here offered to look after you"
"It's ok Al. I'm not in a condition for both you to worry. Ofcourse you guys won't listen to me"
"Ofcourse we love you and care for you. Isn't it Zaiden?" she asked scrutinizing his reaction
No Zaiden. Don't say anything
He smiled at me and nodded
No. she is smirking like a cheshire cat.
"Al. Go check if granny need anything."
"Yeah?. Sure brother anything you wish for"
Zaiden chuckled at that
"Stop laughing. You know, she will bombard me with questions once you leave"
"Trust me. I know the drill"
He came towards me and kissed my forehead once again, making my heart beat rise
"Good night. Get well soon"
Calm down Jason. It's a good bye kiss. Nothing special.
"I will see you to the door" I said getting up from the bed.
"No its ok. You take rest"
"I'm fine. Walking to the door is no big exercise "
I walked with him to the door.
"Good night. Thank you for today. Drive home safely"
" It's nothing. Good night. I will text you" he said
I waited until his car disappeared from sight and came back to find my sister waiting for me.
God save me
"So?" she asked
"What now Al?"
"So tell me why your boss is calling you early on weekend, freaking out when you are not well, cooking for you, pissed at your ex, nursed you for an entire day, finally kissing you and shall I continue?
She saw that. No point in denying, Jason. Casual. Act. Casual.
"First you shouldn't have seen that. Second it's nothing .He is just a caring person. He wanted to help us. You don't have to play sherlock homes now"
"Jason DeNova don't you dare lie to me. Am I looking like a five year old kid to you. He practically freaked out, when I said you were unwell. His friend that doctor, even she admitted he was worried. And you, you were blushing like a school girl when he kissed you"
Oh God. No no no. If she found the guy proposed to me and I'm the one hesitating here, she wont hesitate to marry me off .
"Al. Stop being dramatic. I'm gonna sleep"
Good Jason. Now don't look at her. Run Run for your life.
"Jason come back here right now or I swear"
I practically ran into my room and closed the door, to escape from my dangerous sister.
My phone dinged to notify a text
Z.Boss - I reached home. Good night . Rest well
